    BHE vs FHE

It’s only a lot of work when you see it written down including all the “automatic” stuff. It feels like zero work to me. If I’m in the flow it’s fast and mostly subconscious. My version of it: 1. Find the CCB aim line while standing (feel/GB/HAMB), decide what shot to play, visualize the shot...

    Increasing stroke speed?

Getting significantly faster than that requires that you recruit more levers and/or big muscles. Watch SVB’s wrist action on his power strokes, or any big breaker rise up and use their shoulder joint and upper body lunge forward.

    Sane advice/Heresy ala Neils.........................

Shaft stiffness has little to do with deflection. From Dr. Dave: However, typical pool cue shafts are very flexible in the lateral direction (i.e., they don’t require much force to flex), and the shaft does not flex very much during the incredibly brief tip contact time anyway, so stiffness...

    Sane advice/Heresy ala Neils.........................

Interesting. Aren’t there equipment rules against that? Even so, there’s still going to be a non-zero amount of CB deflection from the off-center force applied. If you hit a CB off-center with a feather, it won’t deflect. But it also won’t move. A certain amount of shaft end mass is necessary...

How often do pros "practice"? What is enough?

I think you answered your own question. Pros spend way more time on the table than 7 hours per week.

    Sane advice/Heresy ala Neils.........................

It’s not possible as long as Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion is in effect. Off-center action on the CB -> equal and opposite reaction by the CB. Deflection could be further reduced if we find a lighter weight material for shafts than carbon fiber, that is still stiff and strong enough (unlikely -...

    Awesome shot by Fedor

Vitaliy Patsura just won the Texas 9-Ball Classic, sending both Fedor and Shane to the loser's bracket (7-2 and 7-4, respectively) to get to the hotseat, then withstanding a double-dip attempt by Shane which went to the second game hill-hill. Great tournament, congrats to the red-hot Ukranian...

    BHE vs FHE

You think hitting the CB only 1.65 mm off vertical center makes a significant difference in anything? I’d be surprised if a good player’s standard deviation when attempting center CB isn’t bigger than that.

    Awesome shot by Fedor

Talked to Fedor today about his setup. He said he normally uses a Sony Alpha A6400 camera with a LiveU box for streaming, and sometimes he uses his iPhone. He’s using the main kit this weekend. Hoping to see him against SVB in the final. Both of them are making the head ball in the side 90+% of...

    BHE vs FHE

As an instructor, you might want to use the correct anatomical terms. Pronation and supination are rotational movements of the forearm, which would make no sense in a pool stroke. The terminology you’re looking for is wrist flexion (will move the cue butt closer to your body) and extension...
