World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Japan v Netherlands Niels and Nick v J1 (Crazy funny guy) and J2 (His fun loving sidekick) Still Races to 7 in the second round Frame 1: Nick wins lag, as we'd expect. Niels smacks the 1 in middle plus the 3 and 5 ball go in. Not bad on the 2 and positional route ok. Nick nails it. Only...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Eng B v Sweden Frames 7 to end Frame 7: Gray makes 1 in middle. Very fine cut on the 2 ball. He may play safe. Yes, Peach uses a rest and plays safe, but not a good one. Chamat should hook them up now. Wow, he went the bank, kind of like a shot to nothing, but hooks himself on the 3 ball, and...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

England B v Sweden Daryl Peach and Mark Gray playing for England B Marcus Chamat and Christian ? for Sweden After this it's 2nd Round Matches, so those players should be in form after having played on the table. Glad to hear some of you are following the updates.. I assumed there were a few...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Australia got to 5-4 over England A after trailing 1-4, but England escaped somewhat nervously with the last 3 games to win 7-5. There are a lot of comments on the US game in yesterday's Day 2 thread if you want to check them out. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=406846&page=4...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Greece v Singapore A pretty even and high quality contest here so far, though some cracks started to appear in the last 2 frames. Greece won the first 2, Singapore the next 3 with some silky stroking and a fluked 9 ball by Yapp after a bad miss on the 6 ball. In the 6th frame, the same middle...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Frame 7: Wet, but Belgium scratch in the middle again. Looks like an easy layout for the Fins. I'll tick them off with 5 balls to go. Fins 5-2 Frame 8: Mika has the break down, 1 in middle and 2 others fall, and he's perfect on the 2 ball. I'll pencil this one in too.... oh wait, Makonin with a...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Finland v Belgium Frame 1: Fins win lag but Makonin breaks dry. Belgium makes the 1, misses a tricky 2 ball and leaves Mika a tester... which he makes but gets a bad roll on the 3 ball... but Petri banks it and they should be out. 1-0 to a confident looking Finland. Frame 2: Mika smashes them...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Frame 7: Spain makes a ball, on a pretty easy 1 ball. Bad Day misses a shocker. I don't think he knows where his cue is pointing today. Hubler knocks back what I'd call a 90% pot on the 6 to hook them up. Well, it works, Spain misses by a mile. BIH to CR and a simple out... can they mess it up...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Frame 4: CR makes a ball. Should be out but a bad miss on the 5 when he looked in 2 minds to go 1 or 2 rails across. He underhits the shot and the outside english swerves and causes a huge overcut. Spain cleans up an easy rack. 2-2 Frame 5: Spain makes a ball but loses the CB down table. A long...

World Cup of Pool Day 3 Updates

Spain goes 1-0 up over Czechs after a cautious and sloppy first frame. Frame 2: Spain scratches in the corner after a too thin hit on the break. The Czech Republic cleans up nicely. 1-1 Frame 3: Roman Huebler (sp?) breaks softish and dry, leaves Spain on the 1. A poor shot on the 2 kisses the...

    Justin Bergman v Jayson Shaw....Oct 13 & 14

$10/day would be fair, for about 7 hours of pool. Perhaps $15 for the weekend would be a good price point, considering a lot won't be able to watch all of it. Up to them of course :) The more viewers, the better for sponsors, players' sponsors, future events etc. Colin

    Justin Bergman v Jayson Shaw....Oct 13 & 14

Very keen to watch this match. No predictions from me, just want a close match with a few 4 packs. Anyone know the stream charge and the time of play? Colin

    Does a touch of outside...

Gearing OE for 3/4 ball medium speed pot. Here is a throw chart I made for a 3/4 ball cut right to left played at medium speed. The left chart is compared to line of centers aiming, the chart on the right is for a medium speed natural roll (similar to firm stun shot throw) which needs to be...

    Does a touch of outside...

Yes, gearing OE cancels out throw skids. But if the CB has follow or draw, skids can occur that either decrease the amount of follow achieved or decrease the amount of draw. Mostly on softish shots though. But be careful about how much OE you use. A touch too much and you can throw the OB off...

    World Masters Table A Joke

I have seen it when the OB is nearer the pocket, but the 1 ball was nearly a foot away. It penalizes the power shot players because it distorts all the natural angles significantly. A couple of games before Niels powered up with inside to go 3 rails and nearly scratched in the corner. The usual...

    World Masters Table A Joke

The Niels Feijin Scratch This just should not happen on a proper table. The follow held on his CB beyond the second rail, then grabbing to arc into the middle pocket, which is an impossible shot from that angle with outside english. Here's the shot:

The Japanese Team Pre-Match interview was hilarious

It looked like Orcollo was auditioning for The Lollipop Guild. LOL I've spent a lot of time in Asia, and never seen a group of them be so excitable and expressive. I learn something everyday :D

    World Masters Table A Joke

It would be interesting to measure the throw differentials between new and 6 month old balls, and old balls that are waxed.

    World Masters Table A Joke

I tend to agree. I think super fast, super slippery slidey new cloth tables dumb down the game and narrow the margin between good and great players. They make the pockets play huge for dribble shots and worst of all, it reduces the grip a player can achieve with side english, which discourages...
