    What a tool!!!

There would have been no reason for Hoang to have made those ugly comments to Savannah after the match. She reluctantly accepted the result of not calling the combo far more maturely than most other players would have handled it in that situation. Unless I missed it, the OP needs to edit and...

    What a tool!!!

Some could actually view this incident as a sign of respect that Huang showed towards Savannah and her strong game. He realized early in this match that this young lady was playing good enough to beat him it, so just like if he was playing anyone else in the field, he was going to do whatever...

    What a tool!!!

I’m sure their comments to Hoang at the completion of the match was just a heat of the moment emotional and impulsive reaction on their part, and something they likely regret. Particularly in light of the entire internet pool world having soon seen/heard the video, which was also a regrettable...

    What a tool!!!

I hope most of us would generally agree that: 1) She should have called the combination. 2) Hoang should not have called the infraction on her. 3) Her parents should not have gone off on Hoang to the extent they did on camera after the match, regardless of how they felt. 4) Before releasing...

    What a tool!!!

IMO, I’m sure they were quite upset, but out of line for them to say that to him, if they indeed were her parents, regardless of how I feel about what he did. As it was caught on camera, they should have had more class than that. Perhaps they could have confidently told him a few minutes...

    What a tool!!!

That’s laughable for him to say he’s upset about the whole deal and that it was a bad situation. He’s the one that caused it by making the decision to call her on it. He’d have to have to be an idiot to think it was not going to end up blowing up in his face. I guess he didn’t anticipate it...

    What a tool!!!

I disagree, it was not Hoang who made that comment after the completion of the match. It certainly did not sound like him.

    What a tool!!!

At the end of the video, it seemed pretty clear to me that the man and the woman who made those statements were near the mic and both statements were directed to Hoang for having called that on Savannah, which ended up being the difference in the hill-hill match. I commend Savannah’s composure...

CF Playing SHAFT VS BREAK SHAFT

Thicker shaft diameter (the last 12”), a harder tip and possibly a slight difference in the ferrule, which would make it or more durable to better withstand the velocity of a break shot.

    64 players, paying 16 places, (25% of the field). $1,000 tournament purse/entries

If it’s a double elimination format, 9-12 is one match further than 13-16 on the one-loss side. I would only pay out as deep as 9-12.

    End of the US Open?

You can always still go to Derby City! One of our regulars, who just won our weekly tournament last week had to play Fedor in one of the early one pocket rounds at Derby City. He complained to me about his unfortunate draw, but in what other sport can you get matched up against one of the top...

Chezka Centeno: The Next Ga Young Kim?

It would be great to see her competing in the future in open tournaments against the men. I think she could / will hold her own, and it will only serve to make her an even stronger player.

Chezka Centeno: The Next Ga Young Kim?

Stu, it’s hard to imagine anyone having more natural talent for pool than Chezka, but as closely as you’ve followed all these players for years, I’ll take your word for it!

Chezka Centeno: The Next Ga Young Kim?

Stu, I agree 100%. I’ve felt that about her ever since watching her come back from 8–4 to beat Allison in the semi finals of the world championships last year and then winning in the finals.

    Player Auction Question / Opinions

I agree with most that it is buyer beware and there are no guarantees of anything when you bid on / buy a player in a player auction. I’ve seen players get ticked off when the bid on them goes higher than they think it should, not buy half of themselves even though they always do, then...

    Player Auction Question / Opinions

For a player auction before the start of a tournament, regardless of whether the tournament is handicapped or not, I pose the following questions: Does a player for any reason who might not be 100% have an obligation to let potential bidders know before the auction starts, if there is a chance...

    Rule question..

Agreed, the sooner you can get over that habit, the better for your game. As a young player, the best advice I ever got from an experienced player was to stop doing something similar to what you describe doing.

    BHE vs FHE

Very few have a 6” bridge, I would say 8”-9” is average. When using extreme off center ball spin, for most players I’m guessing there is likely a combination of butt pivoting (BHE) as well as some degree of parallel shift involved.
