Touching the cloth with hands or cue?

You know where I stand on this issue. First of all remove the diamonds from the rails. Secondly it is a foul if your cue stick touches the cloth any time other than when executing the shot. You should not be allowed to use the cue stick to try to find angles or mark the table.

Well it happened...Shane vs Tate US open

The idiotic ball color change is now costing games. For the longest time we had a purple 4 ball, and an orange 5 ball. I guess on low def tv the 4 ball looked like the 6 ball so they introduced the pink 4 ball or the tv ball. That was fine. Then they decide that the 5 ball being orange is too...

NYC Pool Players Developing Olympic Pool Format

Speed pool is where they run around the table in a frenzy to clear the table. Actually, the way to be fast is to not run around the table but to leave shots right where you are standing already. When I do speed pool I am not actually moving that much or that fast.

Six large pockets is just too easy

If you're going to play one pocket then this is the way to go.

    Is This a Foul?

Not sure but when you are playing cueball fouls only, and say you knock an object ball after your shot, the opponent can choose if he wants you to place it back, BUT, it is a foul if the object ball you moved would have been in the path of the cueball on its way around the table.

NYC Pool Players Developing Olympic Pool Format

I shoot fast and can't stand slow players, but speed pool has got to be the dumbest thing ever...it's embarrassing for the sport.

NYC Pool Players Developing Olympic Pool Format

You must be... :) They have nothing in common whatsoever. Basketball and soccer are highly skilled games. Football and baseball are less so...like they say, "if you can hit, they'll find a position for you". That's why you see athletes playing both professional baseball and football.

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

I just played a 5 game set of 9 ball, and needed the shorty 0 times, to give you an idea of how little it comes up. The wall is more of a problem for stance as a couple of times I was up against it...couldn't quite get my feet spread fully and down on the shot.

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

I find the wall is more of an issue for my stance than the cue....I rarely need the shorty, but will have my butt against the wall more often...probably any straight out shot that is 6" off the rail or less. The easy math is you want to have 5 feet all around the table so 19' x 14'6"

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

Why is it so hard to find a 54" pool cue? That would be the perfect shorty cue size for the space.

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

The 4 1/4" you see boasted about at various tournaments have little or no shelf, so they play easy. My pockets were custom cut at diamond and the shelf is deep so yeah they are tough. I think a 5 pack of 9 ball (with the magic rack) was the record by a player that has a 750 fargo. My record is a...

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

That is a good point. It teaches you to not leave yourself on the rail. I do, with 4 1/4" pockets. Not fun for anything but 9 ball or 10 ball. I figure an 8 ft might be a good mix for some straight pool and 8 ball....plus its more fun for other players. My table is pretty tough and lessor...

    8ft versus 9ft Diamond Pro am (room 17'6" x 14')

Yeah I was thinking the 8ft would be more fun for 8 ball and straight pool as well. I never liked playing either of those games on the 9ft.

    Split the difference/fractional aiming/cte

My first an obvious question on the first shot he is demonstrating...what if you need to play top lefts for position? Secondly, all he is doing is applying backhand english to throw the object ball in. This isn't aiming its throwing. Instead, he should just be landing on right hand english...

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

Shouldn't we close this topic now? I solved it via logic. Both players are likely telling the truth.

The true beauty of 1 pocket is ....

Well yeah because he never played it. A while back all the "best" 1P players weren't even ranked...then the pros took it up and now they dominiate it obviously.

Did I make a bad call as Tournament Director?

ok that makes sense, we play league on diamonds so not an issue. Anyway, if you scratch on the 8 its pretty much a loss anyway as the other player can usually run it out or hook you.

Becue (blue) core tip or Kamui Medium black?

Thanks, I went with a kamui black medium. I also liked the ultraskin....sounds like a condom though. I have a natural born naked cue with an ultraskin tip. :)
