Superglue vs epoxy for ferrule install?

Use the water proof wood glue on ferrules, never had a problem. Worked in a custom shop that made tables and chairs for Logans, Captain D's, Shoney's and a few others. One of the customers, Logans Steak House, has maple tables that are made with 1.5 inch maple squares that are glue together...

Looking for 14 mm French Chandivert Champion Tips

The problem is that 99% are dried out if you do find some as they were made a long time ago. They are like cigars, would you like a nice Cuban that has been just stored in a box for 15 years. If they were stored properly then they would be fine but who has done that?

shaft straight, butt straight, but both are not

If it rolls straight with the original shafts then it is only the face on the Tiger that needs to be corrected. Also check to see if it hangs over on one side and hangs in on the other side. Sometimes when wood is threaded the tap walks off center. If this is the case a plug and retap will...

french crown tips?? like champions or?

The problem is how they were stored. I had a customer that had a whole box of the old Champions but the problem was they were dried out. Put a few on and they all started to have chunks of leather separating from tip. Too bad they did not preserve well.

How is a Male Unilock Joint Pin Secured?

Send it back for repair. The wood is stripped out and was probably done when putting the pin in originally and they did not catch it. The old pin must be removed and the hole plugged and then tapped for the pin again. It's also a common problem for the insert in the shaft to do the same...

    DCC Pick up....Wanting ID Help..

Ivory? If the joint is ivory it will not last long as it is just a sleeve over the wood. Also if the bottom is ivory any compression on the bumper will crack the ivory as it is thin walled. You hope all that "ivory" is some other material.

    6 wing router cutter ...

I can now shave with my pocket knife. Got the Ken Onion edition and it is way easier than any stone or diamond that I have ever used. My uncle was a butcher and I learned how to use rod and leather to sharpen knives. I thought I was getting it sharp until I tried the Work Sharp. Ten times...

    6 wing router cutter ...

I have the large 6 wing cutters (2.5 inches across and .250 thick) running 24k and cuts at 50 IPM at around 400 rpm on CNC wood lathe. I guess I need to true the blades as one wing sticks out about .002 more than the rest but then the shafts are smooth now so I don't see the point. Now that I...

How to remove and re-install butt cap

Costly weight loss don't you think? Yes it could be done but not cheaply.

How to remove and re-install butt cap

Just because the outside is ebony the inside is probably maple. Don't know how Bill put the cue together but it should have a weight bolt in the end that holds the bumper and butt cap in place. You should be able to remove some weight by changing weight bolt. I also think the weight bolt...

What Do The Cue-Makers Play With?

About 2 years after I started making cues I made myself a nice cue, maple forearm, 6pt with ebony high/low points with some silver and ivory inlays. I also made with purpleheart handle to Southwest/DPK specs as I do all my cues. Anyway I played with the cue for a year and a friend from my home...

    3/8-14 Tap...WTB

I believe there is someone on here that will do that for you. It is a regular 3/8 x 14 that has been ground down to .364 od I do believe. I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. The regular 3/8 x 14 will be too loose.

    Recomend me a good micrometer

Sorry you feel this way but it is very accurate. As I said I have been doing for 20 years with no problems and I am sure I am not the only one that does this with no problems. Don't knock it till you have tried it. I'll bet you are one of those guys that uses a cutter to cut tips down instead...

    Recomend me a good micrometer

Not kidding, have been doing for almost 20 years, was taught by tool and die maker. I was at first wondering if I would get hit in the face by the calipers but have never had it happen. The part about it spinning makes the calipers go to the center so you get accurate reading.
