Who is the all-time, best shape player?

I woukl agree. In fact, Dan Janes once said to me that Mike Sigel didn't really know how good he was. (Early 90's) Figure out that statement.

    RealKingCobra aka Glen Hancock

I have to chirp in with the fact that many, many of the retail places that pool tables are purchased from do not have table mechanics that give a crap about how well a table is put together. I worked as a manager for a retailer that sold Brunswick, Olhausen and AMF. At times, I had to go out to...

Who is the all-time, best shape player?

Personally, I think when you talk about getting in shape, you have to look at who has won the most times. This Sport is measured with wins and one doesn't win unless they are getting shape. To me Greenleaf's record is very remarkable, although shortened due to his thirst for the bottle. For...

What cues did the HOF'ers use?

Frank Coster built cues for about ten years, out of the Allentown, PA area. His life ended prematurely in the early 90's. Tremendous craftsman. You can view two of his cues that had belonged to a friend of mine, Randy Fry, at http://www.proficientbilliards.com/cues/frankcoster/frankcoster.htm...

What are the stakes? How much do the teams get paid? What type of venues will the matches take place in?

    Marketing...

Good points. When I had my room, I relied very heavy on encouraging repeat business which meant to find activities for all levels of play. I had no alcohol or food, so relied almost entirely on pool time to pay the bills. My primary method for advertising was by way of a newsletter I developed...

What cues did the HOF'ers use?

Jimmy Caras was given cues by many different cue builders. He had a very fancy Adams cue that had been built for him by Richard Helmstetter in the late 60's or early 70's. But, during his competition years, he most likely used some sort of Brunswick cue since he was on their exhibition staff...

What cues did the HOF'ers use?

Frank Coster built cues in the 1980's and made one for Allen Hopkins which he played with for many years. The cue I saw Jean Balukas playing with in the late 70's early 80's almost certainly had to have been a Balabushka. I'd be surprised if it was anything other.

What cues did the HOF'ers use?

I am fairly certain that Joe Balsis played with a Frank Paradise cue, although it may have been a Palmer. Mike Sigel played with Joss Cues, made by Dan Janes, in the 1970's - early 80's. As did Nick Varner in the mid-late 80's. I remember seeing Steve Mizerak playing with a gorgeous ebony...

    Greenleaf's Home Away From Home

During the the late 1940's, Ralph Greenleaf called Lancaster, PA home. He lived above Speros Hampilos' American Bowling & Billiard Parlor, at 153 North Queen Street, in Lancaster. These were dark days in Ralph's life as he was known to be a common drunk. There were at least three billiard...

    FS Phillippi Sneaky Pete

For Sale is a cool looking Phillippi Sneaky Pete. Inlaid with the old proverbial "Lucky Horse Shoe" These are the pictures of the sneaky pete that were sent to me. They were taken with a cell phone, not the greatest. Cue is new. Was aquired in a raffle at a tournament very recently. Ebony...

    Improving as an Amateur

In all activities, whether it be athletic or theatric or work related, to get ahead one must practice, practice, practice. You can do all the drills in the World, but I believe you must find that someone that plays as good or better than your speed, that is willing to grind out a few sets with...

    Who invented the "BREAK CUE?"

Dan Janes is the name of the gentleman you are refering to. I was playing a lot at the Rack Room, in Langhorne, in the early-mid 1980's. Big Jim came in with a shorty made for him by Gus Szamboti. He then demonstrated how easy it was to jump with a shorty. Shortly after that, I was playing Pete...
