Did I take up the wrong sport?

Other than the actual guys throwing darts, it seemed like it would have been a great place to be as a spectator. The crowd reminded me of a Beer Tent at Oktoberfest or a crowd at a UFC event. People were dressed in costumes and having a great time. I'm not even sure that they were paying...

Is the Efren Reyes 2 Rack Run Video an Urban Legend?

I was watching a video on YouTube and someone (I believe it was Joe Rogan) said that there was a video on YouTube of Efren practicing where Efren dumps 2 racks of balls onto a table and then runs them out numerically (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc.). I can't find the 2 rack run video for the life of me...

Did I take up the wrong sport?

This is a semi-rant, but I'm watching Fox Sports Florida and they are airing the 2014 World Championship of Darts. The total prize money for the event is 1.5 million dollars. What makes darts (or poker for that matter) that much more exciting to watch to the masses than pool?

    Why do we miss balls?

Most of the time I miss it is because I'm concentrating more on getting position than I am on making the shot. Once I realized that this was the main reason that I was missing, I was able to correct the issue and now I miss a lot less.

    world pool Masters

I'm glad that I didn't wager any money on the World Pool Masters. I would have lost my shirt just in the first round. I would have chosen Feijen, Orcollo, and Immonen to make it past the first round but they all got knocked out early. The only two matches that I would have definitely picked...

    Starting over after 4 years

I took close to 6 years off while I was stationed overseas, but I did play a handful of times while I was in Germany. When I got back to the states and did start playing again, it didn't take me long to get back to where I left off. I'd suggest that you just start playing again. Join a league...

    world pool Masters

Shane is on to round 2. It looked like it was going to be a runaway with Shane up 7-1, but went on a 5 game run and brought the score up to 7-6. Shane won the next game, winning the match 8-6. The evening session is about to start soon.

    world pool Masters

Orcollo is out. I find that surprising. I seriously think Shane is shaping up to be a favorite to win the whole thing.

are you a pretentious pool A-hole???

The only issue that I've had recently is playing against my buddy that takes WAY too long to shoot. He's a great guy and I like him personally, but it is torturing trying to play a set with him because it takes him so long to shoot. He'll study the table for a while, get down to shoot, stand...

Do you play Pity pool and how to shake it

I used to have this problem. I'm not saying that I've completely kicked the habit, but I've gotten much better at playing the table and not my opponent. One thing that helps me is trying to maintain an average inning count. Now even when I'm playing a weaker player, my goal is usually to win...

    Mosconi Cup

I'll be watching via XBMC/Kodi. If it's televised anywhere in the world, I'll be watching it.

    Mosconi Cup

It might air on ESPN3, which is ESPN's online service.

How many playing cues do you actually use?

If you're counting break cues, I routinely shoot with 5 cues. - I have a table in my house so I use a break cue and mostly the same shooting cue at home. - I use another break cue when I'm playing/practicing away from home. - I shoot in 2 different leagues and I use a different shooting cue for...

    Pool Sharks Reality Show

I'm sure that I'll watch an episode or two in order to see what it's all about. I just hope that they focus on the pool matches as much as the focus on the drama. In my opinion, normal pool matches have a place and can thrive on television in the right format. I don't think pay-per-view pool...

How many players in the US are too good (or would not be allowed) to play in the APA?

I know this isn't a direct answer to your question, but a lot of people that are really good 'out grow' the APA because it is hard to keep teams together because of handicapping limits. For the most part I don't think a lot of players would get banned from the APA for being too good. I think...

The Mount Rushmore of Pool - who would you put on?

I realize that this question is an analogy for which 4 people represented pool the best or who are the best 4 pool players. But half of the pool players listed in this thread would never make it onto an actual Mt. Rushmore of Pool if it were constructed today due to the fact that National...

    Shane's racking "trick"

I don't even see how this should be a topic for discussion. The US Open is a MAJOR tournament, not some Saturday night bangers tournament at a local bar. The US Open should employ referees that are well versed on all of the rules to make sure that all rules are being followed. The referees...

Has the new break rules made a difference?

This is just my .02, but I feel that the best well-rounded player(s) will usually win as long as the rules are fair. As a spectator, I'm an advocate of alternate break because I feel that it fosters closer matches and I lose interest when matches look like they're going to be a blowout. As a...
