The easy answer is in the speed of shots. You probably average shooting twice as hard in rotation games, thus making the pockets even tighter. As for straight pool, tight pockets are tough. Nothing like having a high run that is significantly lower than other players your speed simply because...

Most people just prefer tighter pockets for one hole. It makes a difference on all aspects(getting balls out, shooting flyers, etc), but only in fairly general terms, imo. And my 2 cents is 4.25". I like that for any game. But, that is just me.

Tim Scruggs, or Andy Gilbert. To me, they make great looking cues, but more importantly, they hit GREAT(imo). I have personally not found too many others that ALWAYS seem to combine the two.

You guys should know, that even in cue ball fouls only, there are some exceptions. If a moved ball did, or would have impeded the cueball, or object ball, ie, the path of said balls, this is also a foul. There are actually a few situations in cue ball fouls only that are fouls without touching...

OK OK OK. I sucked in those two finals, I get it. In reality, I was just trying to preserve my amateur status. And mu gambling status. And my marriage status. And, oh well, you get the picture:p

I poke fun, but I have seen a couple of 'em that had decent shafts(given this was 12 years ago), and weren't awful. They were just the exception, rather than the rule.

Just out of curiosity, I thought JS said he wouldn't be surprised if SF offered him 9-7? Did he actually say that he necessarily wants it? I would think he would take it, I just didn't think he came out and said that. Just wondering.

This is just my personal experience, but I played with a few of his older cues about 8 or 10 years ago, and they were very nice. Hit, feel, looks, finish, etc. I have since had the chance to play with and inspect a couple of the newer, "ebay" cues. In a million years, I personally wouldn't have...

I think you hit it right on the head. GO an SF are, imo a bit better than the others I have seen. Cliff has seemingly been struggling quite a bit of late. And to the original posting, I would say John plays good enough;)
