    Buddy Hall

It's important to understand that, for most grossly obese people, the problem is psychological. Regardless of their genuine desire to exert the will to stop over eating, they are powerless to do so. Over eating is very similar to alcoholism. Once a person has had an epiphany, and has realized...

blue circle and red circle CB's-IMPORTANT INFO

Good test, FB. Like you, I believe that it's the surface polymer that influences the sensitivity of the CB. I don't hear much talk about the blue circle. It would be interesting to have a test comparison between the Red Circle, Super Aramith, and the Measles cueballs. The CBs with the...

Jeremy Jones in Action in Paducah!

Jay, I'm wondering if that's why the earlier players shot most banks with firm to hard speed: that so often the equipment was not only slow, but had bad rolls? I realize most of the guys shot the angles wide, with hard speed to shorten the angle; but I've often wondered how that got started...

    ray cool cat martain

Good point, pt109. Actually the San Fernando (near L.A.) earthquake hit at 6 A.M. on 2-9-71, so the guys weren't playing any matches at that time. But Ray had been well established as a "cool cat" by then. He won the world title that year, then again in 1974 and 1978. He still plays strong...

    One Pocket Rules

Dave, you've illustrated one of the more frustrating circumstances in one-pocket: when your opponent only needs one, and it's hanging in his pocket! As you've discovered, there's no problem if there is no ball that he can neither make, nor legally shoot from the Kitchen, after you've made his...

    Tommy Kennedy

Roger, I hope I didn't reveal a secret. When he told me about the lenses he didn't admonish me to keep it under my hat.;) As far as his "jumping up", he doesn't do it during the shot. If he jumps up, it's after the CB hit. Tommy actually has a good follow-through in his stroke. It's just...

    Tommy Kennedy

Tommy is playing well again after going through a slump of mediocre performance. I asked him why he's playing better. He said he got contact lenses, and he can now see the balls clearly. It's made a huge difference in his play and his confidence. It's great to see Tommy back in top form! Doc

    Justice for Mike Surber

Joey, I talked with Lt. Flowers approx. two weeks ago. He's very optimistic that AMW will pick up the story. My unofficial hunch is that it's no better than 60-40 that they will. It's nice to see that many AZers have posted on their website. Doc

What happened to Mike Sigel in Paris?

I'm reminded of the Popeye Doyle line from French Connection II: "I'd rather be a lamp post in New York than the mayor of Paris." Doc

    One Pocket Handicaps

If you're beating him pretty regularly at 8-5, then next you'd go to 11-7 or 9-6. It really depends upon your ability (and his) to run balls. If you're better at moving than running, then 9-6 would be better for you. Doc

    One Pocket rule question

If the player owing the ball has concession from his opponent that he won, then the game stands. It's up to the opponent to pay attention to the other shooter's owed balls. Usually a coin is placed on the rail next to the ower's pocket, but once in a great while both players forget. What's...
