Haven't read the thread, but I'll have to go with Capone on this one. You can get a nice Merry Widow with 2 shafts for less than a grand and they play fantastic.

Can't go wrong with a Capone. And as mentioned above, not only is Mike a great cue builder, he's a great guy. Hard to go wrong by buying a Merry Widow with rings in all places for $850 with 2 shafts and jp's included. That's the price at DCC anyway, has to be the same or similar if you order one...

These are good ideas in my opinion. The only thing I can think to add is taking a dry erase magic marker over the autograph written with the Sharpie. A permanent ink Sharpie can become erasable if you write over it with a dry erase marker. Before trying this, I think it would be wise to try it...
