    Question for older players

All of it I play for fun so I guess pool is not the priority in my life. I have other things that are priorities, such as a wife and kids and grandkids. Also, living in Alaska and being an avid out door guy leaves little time for pool from April to November. I think if I had my vision...

Chris Melling's 4 rail bank shot

I liked it! That was a fun rack of pool to watch for sure! What made it even better to me was watching how pleased Melling was and Mika smiling and clapping for him. Good stuff!

Iranian women pool players banned for "un-Islamic" acts

A tradgedy. What the women go through in these hard core Muslim countries is a 10 on the horrible sub human scale. If the U.S. treated their female population like this every country on earth would condemn us. The only way for Iran and like countries to be free of this murderous tyranny is...

    Mike Bender

Good stuff I shot a few balls with one of Mike's cues and liked it. The one he had a tournament a few years ago was a work of art, but I didn't ask him if I could shoot a few balls with it. Pat Diveney told me Mike makes very good cues, so that is high praise from another good cue maker. I...

How much more accurate are the REVO shafts?

So hard to know, for me...... I have been using Diveney Lake Salvage 12.5 mm shafts for several years now and like them. Pat recently made me a 12.75 mm LD maple shaft and is making me a 12.5 mm maple LD shaft. Some day I will have him make me up one of his new LD shafts out of Kiel wood. I...

    Friends wedding or Vegas?

Easy call. If you are really a friend you honor the friendship. Pool is a game and true friendship is family. God, family, country always.

    Best All Around Player=Robocop

How do we know? How do we ever determine who the best all around player in the world is? Is it by who wins the most world titles? Is it by who wins the biggest variety of tournaments? Is it determined by how tough the playing field is? Is it by who is consistently in the top five reported...

For those down in TX, MS, LA, AL waiting on me for work...

Sorry.. So sorry that happened to you. In Alaska we have a "basic speed law" and often those in a single vehicle accident are cited for "driving to fast for the road conditions". The states argument is that if the driver had been going slower the accident may not have happened. Up here it...

    Best All Around Player=Robocop

Speculation? What if they played, who is the best, etc. The very nature of pool will always lead to speculation on who is the best. None of them play each other enough to show a clear winner. One day this guy wins and the next day this guy wins, it never ends. Shane is a very smart...

Daryl Peach safety after the Break

Ok by me I know many players who view the 3 foul rule as "dirty pool". I am ok with the 3 foul rule and believe every one should follow the rules with out complaining. For a pro trying to make money, letting up on your opponent is like a race car driver letting some one behind him catch up...

    Mental Game

Many choices There are many books and videos available showing and explaining how to prepare ones mind for stressful times and events and an important pool game, match or tournament certainly meets this criteria. It does not have to be specifically about pool as all sports have this stress...

Adjusting from LD shaft to solid maple shaft.

A little time maybe? I believe the better the player is the faster they adjust to new equipment, cues, shafts, tables, etc. I recently had Pat Diviney convert a 12.75 mm 30" Lake Salvage shaft I had into his version of a LD shaft and I am sending him a 12.5 mm Lake Salvage to do the same...

Pro players who do not take competition too seriously?

Maybe..... Funny stuff there about Earl. I think over the last couple of years Albin Ouschan has looked about as laid back as any pro player I have watched. Seems to work for him.

    What's your greatest pool accomplishment?

Easy to call.. Always being a gentlemen whether I won or lost, even when playing a jerk. Acting any other way would ruin the game for me. I love the game to much to let winning or loosing be the deciding factor on how much joy I receive from playing it.

What's your favorite place to shoot pool?

At home I like shooting on my home table. A good safe environment and I can smoke a cigar if I want. I have a 9' table in my big garage. Life is good!

    Whats wrong with me?

Go figure I often do the same. A buddy who lives about 50 miles away shoots good pool. When I play him I do too. If I play a less skilled player I don't shoot as well. I think part of it is my not being real competitive and finding no pleasure in "beating down" a less skilled player.

    Jayson Shaw best in world

No No, he ain't the best player. But, he is possibly the best current rotation player in 9 and 10 ball, maybe. We will have to wait a few years to see where he fits in with the great ones. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline, determination, self control and mental toughness to be a...

How about get yourself a job

Hey Phillyv, What really amazes me is why any one would worry much about what the pros do or don't do, they are just a small part of the American pool scene. I am sure there are good and bad ones like every profession. I enjoy watching top tier pool players and I enjoy pool, but I keep it in...

Dress Code for Gold Crown Billiards, Erie, PA

Life & choices........ If I want to wear what I want I stay home, as I have no neighbors to worry about and can go all day with out being seen if I choose to. If I want to present a certain image and statement about the kind of person I am when I go out in public, then I give some thought to...

Ability to Purchase Cue Butts Only or Stupid Idea?

Ok by me If a player wants to buy a butt only and have his favorite shaft fit to it I am all for it. I think many buy cues and then put a different shaft on them later. So if one already knows the shaft he likes then it is a good idea cost wise. I have 2 Diveney playing cues and 3 Diveney...
