If the tenon is all the way through the ferrule, it is not capped. If the tenon is not completely through the ferrule, it is capped.

Huh, never seen veneers taper to nothing like that, very interesting. Is that a standard way Palmer did veneers?

Sometimes when fishing it's far smarter to let the fish hook himself, then you let him fight on the line for awhile, you only reel him in when you know there is no more fight in him. Just my experience in Marlin fishing... the fight is most of the fun.
