    Coring, tolerances?

I am not a very experienced cuemaker either but this technique sounds good to me. I will do a test using your technique on some poplar dowels. Poplar should suck up thin epoxy pretty good. If there are no dry spots on poplar, I would think it would work for all other hardwoods.

After months of work... my prototype is...

Thanks guys! It literally took only a couple of seconds - as soon as I turned the lathe on, the cue was doomed  There was no way I was quick enough to stop it. Too bad I didn't even get a chance to see how the cue plays.

After months of work... my prototype is...

I cut up some old house cues from the early 80's that I got a few months ago that came with the Brunswick Gold Crown 2 table I bought. I believe the wood was wenge. I have some curly maple I used for points and started to build a simple 4 point cue. Glued it up... points came out nice and...

    Coring, tolerances?

I have not done coring yet but what do you guys think of this method to prevent "starved joint" issues when using thin epoxies. After boring the hole, apply thin epoxy and let it soak into the wood, let it dry and re-bore. Same thing with the coring dowel - apply thin epoxy and let it soak and...

    Coring, tolerances?

I am also looking for gun drills at the Sterling website. Which type should I get? Solid Carbide Flute? Standard Single Flute? etc? Please enlighten me. Thanks, Chris

    Found a lathe

The Hightower book you have is a great source of information. That is how I started learning to build cues. Bob Dzuricky videos are awesome too - very professional. There are many more youtube videos you can find on replacing tips and ferrules. I remember seeing a Tiger products video on...

How do I change my AZB username?

Sorry if this isn't the right forum but I was wondering if someone here knows how to have my username changed. In case you're wondering why... well, some company is now using my cuemaker product name. When I started building cues back in 2007, I named my cues "BECue". I stopped building...

    gcode for threading ferrules

Hi all, Can anyone share gcodes for threading ferrules (standard 5/16 x 18)? Or point me in the right direction? I recently got a good deal on a used CNC 3040 locally and have been playing around with this new toy. :D Thanks, Chris

    Live threading question

Thanks Kim. I did talk to Todd and he did say the same thing you said but out of curiousity, isn't threading just a matter of calculating the right combination of spindle rpm and feed rate? So, if i have the potential ability to control these 2 factors, wouldn't it be possble to do threads?

    Live threading question

Hello everyone. Happy Thanksgiving! Does anyone know if it would be possible to calculate the rpm and feed rate for cutting inside threads? For example, 3/8-10 threading on shafts. I have a midamericapool's lathe with the CNC attachment so I would have the ability to control the feed rate. The...

Does being a strong player make you a better cue builder??

IMHO, it is an advantage to a cuemaker being able to play a little bit. A cuemaker that can distinguish the different types of 'hit' and 'playability' will have an advantage over one that does not. However, it doesn't mean that a cuemaker that cannot or does not play doesn't have a chance to be...
