    Jump Cue?

im not 100% sure, but break cues are supposedly forward balanced, so the handle thats left for the jump cue would be heavy. ideally jump cues are supposed to be light. as for tips i think they are the same.. either really hard leather or phenolic. i jump with my break cue all the time, as long...

    Parents / kids and pool.

If I had a raise a kid who wants to become a professional pool player, I would do it in Taiwan or even China. These are places where there are many options for you to learn the game without risking the chance of dropping out of school and picking up poor habits. It is just a much more organized...

TAR 21 - SVB or Alex? ***Poll***

Yang quit pool recently for roughly a year and a half and started competing only recently. One of the most talented players I have ever watched but seems to lack the dedication - always complaining that he isn't getting paid enough and professional pool is not career that can give him a future...

    Troubles for Wu

Sorry for reviving an old thread but having grown up in Taiwan, I probably understand this issue than most people on this forum. You can legally have multiple passports - a lot of my friends are in the same situation. However, you are not allowed to leave the country once you have been sent a...

    How to improve pool

Great post you got here. I also though that pool can also be promoted on a smaller scale - for kids as extra curricular activities. With that being said, it could start with a couple schools getting some tables, or YMCA promoting a kid's league. My perspective is that people do like shooting...

    Best Cue for a Beginner

u dont need to spend too much on a beginning cue. just make sure its straight and preferably wood and has a good tip on it. really that's all u need.

I had a major breakthrough last night!

yup! More work on the cue ball = less accuracy, unless the position play requires you to come off the rail at a certain angle to play a "small area" shape. But generally in 9 ball with a wide open table, it rarely needs to be done.

    The GRAND SLAM of Billiards??

I would consider the WPC 9 ball the grand slam of pool, but not so much anymore. In the early 2000s, ALL the best players attended this event and is a tough atmosphere to play in (a lot of audiences). If they can fix up the WPC events, I would definitely consider it a Grand Slam. It is getting...

I had a major breakthrough last night!

That's awesome dude. I have similar experience as I played pool in early high school school for fun with friends every week. I learned to pot the balls well and learned to use draw and follow, but it wasn't until that I met someone (100 ball straight pool player) who taught me the concepts of...

I had a major breakthrough last night!

Natural shape is being able to use center ball or somewhat center ball without much English to play position. Basically without any fancy strokes like a power draw or a force follow.

Are Custom Cues a waste of money?

If cues were made strictly for playability then all the cues would be plain. But really what it is is that some people would say that so and so cue "hits well, then the people who can afford it would be all over it because someone says it has a nice "hit." Functionally, I would say when the cue...
