    Pro Pool Player "Groupies"

Actually I would agree with this. Groupies did used to refer to females attracted to rock musicians. Not necessarily the same meaning today. Perhaps the OP should have been more precise?

What is the difference between a pool Hustler and a pool Shark?

A hustler is someone that downplays his/her game in order to ensure his/her chance of beating you out of money one way or the other. It doesn't have to involve just pool either. A shark is someone who waits and watches for someone he/she can beat. They sit there and clock everyones' game...

has earl ever had the hell beat out of him?

Speaking of clothing rules, I remember a tournament that Keith was in and the rule was that you had to have dress shoes. I guess Keith didn't have any dress shoes with him so he apparently borrowed someones white loafers and they were about 3 or 4 sizes too big for him. It was pretty funny...

has earl ever had the hell beat out of him?

I totally agree. I worked part-time in a pool room and I nipped things in the bud and that always helped me maintain a pretty positive environment. I alwys kept my eye open for problem behaviors and jumped on it quickly, quietly and without hesitation. Never had a problem with retalliation...

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

Another thing that's so nice about this hotel/casino is the size. It is so huge that you always feel like you have lots of room even when there are a lot of people there. Great place to hold this!!! I know I'm going to go!

USPPA Reno players, did they get paid?

It's the one that is due east of the Silver Legacy. It was originally the Hilton and sits all by itself. It's a huge casino/hotel! I've always liked it there. And yes, it is a ways from Atlantis and the Pepper Mill. It's closer to the the other casinos; Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus...

Nice Short Grady Mathews Video - Well Done

Thank you Lenny. Great video. Would love to have seen a good interviewer interview Grady. I could listen to him for hours talking about stories about players and match-ups.

    Drill to stop elbow drop

Whenever you do make a change in your game, I think it is wise to make just one change at a time and work on just that one change for at least 2 weeks. Too many changes can be problematic. Each change you make might be beneficial down the road but you need to perfect that change before you...

    Drill to stop elbow drop

That's good. It's surprising how many players make that mistake. If you don't drop your elbow and you follow through as far as you can, you will see that your cue tip will naturally curve downward into the cloth. Perhaps you're trying to follow through too much then. This was the lesson in...

    Drill to stop elbow drop

Are you moving your bridge hand up and down when following and drawing? Some players, they don't realize it, keep their bridge the same and move their arm to go up or down for follow and draw. You might want to look at your bridge hand while you're shooting just to check.

    Drill to stop elbow drop

I've watched Hopkins a lot. I don't care for his jerky style but I can appreciate the shortness of the stroke. For me, when I stroke through too far I tend to steer too much. Also, I find that a shorter follow-through with more speed gets me a lot of action on the cue ball.

    Drill to stop elbow drop

I believe it's Pool School with Jim Rempe and Loree John Jones where Rempe advocates dropping your elbow for a shot that requires maximum stroke. On the other hand, Nick Varner's old coach, Hal Nix, used to say that you should not follow through very far. Makes it hard to figure out whose...

    Wecome Back Danny Medina

Gosh, getting hit in the face with a hammer, I just can't imagine! Poor guy! Lucky he didn't lose an eye or worse! Glad to hear he seems to be doing better. I've watched him play and he was very good, and fun to watch.

    Wecome Back Danny Medina

Jay, wasn't it Danny that got mugged in Vegas a while back? I thought I read that he got hit in the face with a hammer. Glad to hear that he's free and able to get back to pool. And, if it was him that got mugged like that, good to hear that he can return to pool.

    Pre-Shot Routine and Practice Strokes

Someone like Vivian is a rhythm player. They shoot by feel. Shooters like Buddy Hall, on the other hand, use a more deliberate approach. Not saying he doesn't have his own rhythm but he is deliberate. I think these two players are on either end of the spectrum of what this thread is trying...

Unique challenges that women players face

Quite a while ago, I was playing this lady in a pool tournament. She played horrible and her stance was just awful but I could tell that she really wanted to play better. I asked her after the match if she'd like some pointers and she enthusiastically said yes. I told her that first of all...
