    Chalking with the bridge hand

I must be getting old. One of the first things I learned was chalk with your shooting hand with the cue held sideways with the bridge hand. It keeps chalk residue off the shaft.

Ever have 2 different cues from same cuemaker that played differently?

Wood grain is like fingerprints. And it's properties are forever changing. If you get a cue or even a shaft that you love, you best ride that pony while you can. Proper care can greatly extend its life.

    Jackpot has a stakehorse

You owe me an iPad dean. Diet coke through my nose. What a great response from a grizzled stake hoss.

    Jackpot has a stakehorse

That's a great book dean. So nice to see a stake horse after a fair match up, and not a stone cold lock. I salute you both.

    Mosconi Cup dumping by Europe?

A really great dump doesn't come from missed shots. The greats get out of shape. The elite dump is leaving whitey where you foul. I've congratulated player's I was stake horsing for a great performance. I've had so many players go south on me, that is a huge compliment for a world class dump.

I watch Ronnie the Rocket and become instanly better.

I've always liked the fast and loose players. I have yet to watch any pro match up and not played better. It works the same going to a PGA event. I spend most of my time on the range, watching and learning.

What is the Strangest you have won gambling at pool

I had just got my drivers license. I got in $1 8 ball action. (This was in the 60's). Kid went bust and I beat him out of an electric guitar and a slot car. I know, but it was my first "score" but the action fever infected me that day.

What's up with the cases for sale?

I can't count the number of times I've walked into a room and lost action over the case I was carrying.

    Help identify Joss Limited Cue

I was trying to remember the year I was so impressed. It was 1989. Had a new Mercedes on the road. The cue I borrowed was much lighter. Probably made in the mid 80s. Sorry for the misinformation. Gary South always brought a few down from Corner Pocket in Mountain City Tennessee. Funny how you...

You're correct on the timeline. Better playing through chemistry was rampant when Myrtle Beach was a hot spot in the early eightys. It just got to be too much for me in the 90s. I would not change one thing though. Just a song on the radio brings back so many priceless memories. I'm in NC...

    Help identify Joss Limited Cue

Spot on. Great hitting cue IF your into that era joint. Carry it around and not worry about banging it up.

    Help identify Joss Limited Cue

I left my case at home. Borrowed that identical cue. If it's still straight you have an excellent cue. Wonderful hitting cue for hopefully not a lot of money. I should have bought one then. Much better feel of my Adams cue.

Another quality player gone. His class was equal to his game. I lost interest when chemistry management outweighed a player's heart. I've hit balls one session since 98. Just caught up on who was dead and who was in prison. Very sobering.

Last time I saw him was the early 90s. Mother's in Charlotte, NC. He was chasing the ghost, betting the rail birds. Never could get enough weight for the player I was staking. He was looking good then. He left and we hung around and took off the local tournament. Never heard from him again...
