    Playing better with less practice??

Most of the time, my best game is the first of the evening?session. Weather I have been practicing regularly or not, that is usually the case. I attribute that fact to the theory that when you first walk up to the table, you are concentrating better. You don't take any shots for granted as...

    8 Ball

I try to play by the WPA rules because that's what they were written for...everybody. Just curious...when you all say 'BCA' rules, are you referring to WPA or BCAPL rules...there is a difference. L8R...Ken

Thank you Karen and John. Just wanted to let you know I recieved the case yesterday. Looks great, feels great, everything fits great....looks like it's a keeper. The color was just a tad darker than what is pictured but that is a good thing. Thanks for the opportunity. L8R...Ken

    help! pool with glasses questions.

I wear DYCOT shooting glasses. They are specially made for shooting sports (trap and skeet) but adapt really well for pool. They ride high on the nose so when you bend over and look at the table, the bridge of the glasses aren't obscuring your line of sight. I asked my Optomotrist to write my...

10ball rule question - really confused?

I'm thinking the phrase "If a player misses his intended ball and pocket," could be read as he misses his called shot...meaning he called the five in the side but did not make the five in the side. dareads would be correct, if he didn't hit the lowest ball on the table first, he would give up...

    yikes!

Get the table recovered with a new color...like tournament blue or traditional green. Then, when BF gets home...say SURPRISE!!! Do you like it. I really missed you. He'll never be any the wiser. Just don't get some dorky color like burgandy. L8R...Ken

    measuring a lag

What is the proper way, the most accurate way, to measure a lag? Are there tools/aids to measure a lag? Had a close call and most thought it was too close to call. A referee made the call but as you can guess, no one was satisfied. I would just like to know if there is a fail safe accurate...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Handicapping: Two tournaments, A's and above and B's and below...no handicap. BUT, you are still stuck with placement:confused:. Please don't 'oil up' for the group hug...might tarnish your reputations:D. L8R...Ken

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

T-dog...you have PM. Jenni, glad to 'spain' the situation. Yeah, the local ball was kinda dropped the first time. The League Operators balls were dropped the second time. I'm looking forward to the next time...I still think it will get there...sooner than later I hope. Still need some good...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Just a note for clarification...at ISPA, the 'Three Original Players' rule only applies to the Open Divisions. A Master Team may be made up of five players from five different teams so long as they are all from the same League. Good discussion thus far about the make up of teams (i.e. masters...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

A part of the problem why Master players want to be classified as Open players is the fact that in order for an Elite to play on a team, they must have an Open player playing at the same time. I look at the roster of both those DM teams an see a really stacked team - on both sides. I am...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Just a bit of devils advocate here, some sarcasm...whatever. Jon brown said: "I played the Level 1 tournament at ISPA, and finished 13-16th, so I will play it again next year. I failed to prove myself in that tournament, which means I am not a master player in the ISPA's eyes." This is my...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Wow, while I was typing my last response, I see a half dozen new poasts. Either I type really slow or there are a lot of busy fingers out there. OK Jenni, I will try to fill in the blanks here, but I just noticed that Jason hit on the answers already. This could be long so get ready. 4 or 5...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Spimp13, Sounds like you might be an Open Level 1 player. I have to ask, where would your peers put you...skillwise? would they put you in the Open Level 1 or Masters Division? They are the ones that should have a really good idea of your ability and you should support their decision...

Update on the Des Moines pool scene

First off I want to say that I haven't responded to any of this crap because i really didn't want to get in the way of any of this mud slinging in Peyton Place...I mean Des Moines...but there has been some questions that I need to address. I would like to shed some light on this process. We...

you make the call! Foul or not

I'd go along with Mike Page and Neil's assessment. The rule is only a guide to pay extra close attention. I can't agree with CreeDo's statment "You can make a legal shot from close quarters where the cue ball goes forward a couple of ball widths and then hooks backward from draw." though. I...

    My Diveney Player

My newest Diveney Just purchased this one. Purple Heart points, Curly Maple forearm, G-10 pin. Dreamy is all I can say. This was one of two tribute cues built by Pat Diveney for the ISPA to be given away to two lucky players at the 15th Annual ISPA Tournament last weekend. Pat did a great...
