    Bar Rules Bandit Strikes Again!!!!

Rules...yes they do vary. I think that if you are playing in a location that has a strong League presents, you might find some standardization in the rules...if, before you start, you ask what rules apply and the answer is BCA, WPA, APA or some other league rule, you might be OK, but if your...

    Interesting gadget.

Why use anything. Your knuckles are already that shape. I suppose they could act as Brass knuckles...if they were brass . There's a guy here in town that shoots like that...we call him 'Knuckles"...if you can imagine that ;). L8R...Ken

    pool table speed test

I am seeing that most of these tests are made by bouncing the test ball off the rails. I think this can be a greater variable than the actual speed of the cloth itself. Cloth speed should be made by not utilizing any rail. Haven't you ever noticed a rail that is 'dead' or one that actually...

    8 Ball Analyze: Rack #17

Yeah, stripes, but I'd start with the 7-10 combo to break the 13 out. Then it's wide open. Only possible problem might be the 8-9, but it looks like the 9 might go by the 8 in the corner...if it don't, looks like an easy break out using the 14, 15 or12 ball. L8R...Ken edit: Looks like Spimp...

Is there/Was there ever a BCA rule stating BIH after scratch on the break?

Very good point Jude...BCAPL is not part of BCA. When the BCA first sold off the Pool League portion of their business, the BCAPL began. I asked why they were allowed to carry the name "BCA". I was told that the BCA told the BCAPL that it was required with the sale but the "BCA" part would be...

    Sale UltraSkins, Mix and match

Just sent in an order Tom. I have some of your Oinker tips and I like them a lot. A couple of my team mates are interested in the Ultra Skins so we'll give them a try. Thanks for the offering. L8R...Ken

    ERO or not?

Well, we don't exactly have a rules committee anymore. when something comes up like this, there is usually a bunch of guys at the pool hall that give their opinions but never the same guys. I'm usually one of the guys that gets asked first. I don't get stumped too often and someone else...

    ERO or not?

I hate to admit it, but I have had a couple of those myself...one or two were on purpose with safeties and everything. L8R...Ken

    ERO or not?

No, I was looking for a point of technicality..that technical point being, was the table 'full' or was there a ball gone when the player approached the table. He had to make a decision before he could shoot. On another technical note to consider, what if I had made the eight ball and a stripe...

    ERO or not?

Part of the reasoning for there having to be 15 balls to start with is...would you give a guy that made his 7 object balls and the eight with nothing in the way (those were the only balls on the table) the same credit as you would a guy that runs all of his object balls and the eight ball when...

    ERO or not?

Thanks for all the replies guys. This mirrors what was discussed and I just wanted to get a few more opinions on the subject. BTW, we did decide to allow the ERO, it made sense. Just a technical question...those do come up once in a while. Mark, yes, you need all 15 balls on the table...

    ERO or not?

In my league (WPA rules observed with some variations), the rule says: an ERO (Eight Ball Runout) is defined as upon your first attempt at the table, if there are 15 balls on the table and you successfully run all of your chosen group and legally pocket the eight ball, you earn an ERO. Here's...

    Cats and pool tables?

I have a yellow cat with white feet, white nose and white tipped ears. When he gets on the pool table, all the white gets treated with blue chalk. He doesn't come around very often any more so I guess it worked...too bad cause he was kinda cute with all those blue tips. Hope you fix your cat...

    8 Ball Analyze: Rack #5

I can see that...IF...the 5 don't go in the side. Those side pockets can be tricky...I know I've scratched in the side when the CB has came from inside the first spot more than once. But I see your options. Kinda depends on the angle of that 4 ball too...might need to cheat that pocket a bit...

    8 Ball Analyze: Rack #5

I think...start witht the 4, then the 5 in the side, then the 7 in the corner...it goes by the 13 I think...try to get CB back to where is is now, then the three in the corner, next the 2 in Katty-Corner form the 3, then 6 in the side and finally one in the corner with 8 in corner or same side...

JA vs MD push out after the break match.

JA vs MD push out after the break match.

What ever happened to the 'Ahead' matches? Player to get so many games ahead wins the match. If it's a big enough gap, you'll see plenty of packages and lots of good play. And when it's over, the loser knows he's been beat. Leave all the rules and tables the way they are. Just go play some...

JA vs MD push out after the break match.

How about going the other direction...the breaker gets to shoot after the break, made ball or not. And leave the option to push out. Of course, you'd have to allow alternate break or it would simply be a runaway. And make the race 20 or more. Seems to me with the mandatory first shot push...

Who said trickshots dont come up in real game scenarios? :p

I just happened to have to use some trickery this past weekend in a tournament...probably more common a shot than Venoms... Had a ball about 1/2 off the side rail. Needed to break out a ball about 6" out from the same rail but one of the opponents balls was in the way in such a position that I...

Should a player's handicap drop when he reaches a certain age?

To answer the OP question...NO. If you can still compete in the level you are rated at, you should stay there until you can no longer compete. Age has nothing to do with it. L8R...Ken
