    snooker or pool?

You know, I'm fine with you calling me a lousy poster or stupid or whatever, but calling me a liar is pretty uncool. Obviously you didn't consider that the match in question was 13 years ago when O'Sullivan was only 21 and that it was close to his first encounter playing pool against an...

Best table you ever Played on?

That's a pretty sweet setup! I love Diamonds too but my single beef is that the acoustics are a little lacking. The sound the balls make when they slam into the pockets is just a little too muted. It's one of the things I like best about the Kim Steels. They just sound soooo good...

Just the most perfect table ever.

    snooker or pool?

I'm only repeating what Nick said to me. Interpret it any way you want. Also that shot is a good example of a 'shot to nothing' in nine ball. If Nick had missed he'd have had three balls blocking Ronnie from the one ball.

    snooker or pool?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4Jz2m_fkM8&feature=related Thanks for the above links - I noticed this match in the 'related videos'. Watch the shot Nick plays at about 5:30. He told me that after the match Ronnie came up and asked for a banking lesson - he totally did not see Nick's shot coming.

    snooker or pool?

Now who's being an ass? I think I pretty clearly said that Efren couldn't compete against the top players - he doesn't have the long potting game that they do. He would tie them up in knots though, I promise. Also both him and Jose are pushing 60 so I don't think they're going to be taking up...

    snooker or pool?

Sorry I didn't see your first post. Regardless I stand by what I said about the safety in 9 and 10 ball, but I was using the straight pool and banks exercises to help illustrate my point - or trying to. Regardless, I should have thought that for any game on a pool table it's obvious that...

    snooker or pool?

This was in 2000 and it was a legit offer and I know that because I was there for the entire negotiation. Parica and Thorburn are about the same age, by the way - Cliff is less than a year older. How do you explain Kirk quitting Efren after only three games? I was sitting about eight feet...

    snooker or pool?

You're right in that distance is only part of the equation, but where you're wrong is in the fact that many of the safeties in snooker bear a very familiar pattern. I mean yes there's a lot of skill required in playing a thin safety of the stack, avoiding some loose reds, and then missing the...

    snooker or pool?

Ha ha. I think I'd Tony has a better chance of catching malaria than he does of beating someone like Efren or Alex P giving them 60 point spots. Efren ran back-to-back 130s on a tight 12' snooker table in Detroit back in the mid 90s. Several people saw this. Parica said flat out he would...

    snooker or pool?

I'm sorry but you're just wrong about this. You also seem to be assuming I'm a person who bases what I say on just watching a little snooker - I'm not. I run consistent centuries and my highest break is 147. I've also played pro nine ball and I can tell you that in terms of 'general billiard...

    snooker or pool?

I agree with all of the posters in this thread, except for the above statement. Snooker's safety game is very one-dimensional and nowhere near as intricate as that required for games like nine-ball or one pocket. Every snooker player in the world could improve their safety by spending a few...

American thoughts on who IS or WAS the best Canadian player

Thorburn's pretty clearly the best ever. Chenier is a name that deserves consideration as well. There's no one on the scene nowadays (except for Alex) who is as big a star as Cliff or George were in their respective eras.

    Alex Pagulayan representing Canada??????

I'm pretty sure Ronnie Wiesmann has dual citizenship. He married an American and spends just about all of his time in the US. That being the case he can play for whomever he pleases as far as I'm concerned. Same thing with Alex. He holds Canadian citizenship but has a green card from the USA...

    I need your opininion

First I would make sure you're 100% sure you're correct. Then I'd post the details on this website. I used to check up on tournament directors to make sure the prize fund was accurate - it's easy to do. Ex: If 40 players enter a tournament and pay s $50 entry fee, then you have a $2000 fund...

    New 9 Ball Movie

I saw some of the trailers and agree it looks awful. Actually, saying it look awful is being kind. It would take quite a bit of work to make it awful. Tip for potential movie makers: Movies are better with an actual script. Get one!

    Archer got screwed

I play fast, but I've been watching pool for about a billion years, here are some thoughts: - Some shots take a lot of time to think about, and sometimes a lot of time to execute, it's just a simple fact. If you want to force the players to speed up, be prepared for the standard to go down. -...
