    thoughts on tiger cues

They get an A from me I just bought a TC-4 from an AZ seller (hookmehorns) and like it very much. The cue looks great and is as solid as any cue I have owned. And I've owned a lot of cues. Knowing that these cues are made by Jacoby was definitely a selling point for me.

Feeler about a Capone cue - it might be the first one he made!

That's interesting. Thanks for the information. I guess it may be the first cue Harry made. He might want it back.

Feeler about a Capone cue - it might be the first one he made!

Just found out that it is NOT a Mike Capone cue Here's the email I just got from Mike Capone: Bill The cue was called a Capone cue but not made by me. The cue was made by a gentleman named Harry Wise. I believe he was from the Illinois or Indiana area. Apparently he was nicknamed a wiseguy...

Feeler about a Capone cue - it might be the first one he made!

A friend of mine recently bought a Mike Capone cue. He decided to have it refinished and took it to a local cue maker (Dick Neighbors). When Dick removed the wrap, he found what seems to be a serial number of 00001 and the date, Oct. 1, 1994. Pics can be found here...

    Kudos to Seyberts Billiard Supply

A few days ago I ordered an inexpensive cue (Players) from Seyberts.com. On the order page, they allowed you to specify the desired weight of the cue to the quarter of an ounce. I was impressed that they allowed that much precision for the weight. I ordered a cue and specified 18.5 ounces. When...

    Willie

JAM, thanks for the nice thread about one of our game's all-time greats. l still recall seeing Willie give an exhibition back in the 1960s. When his opponent missed a shot, leaving about 8-9 balls on the table, Willie, who had been sitting near me, immediately rose from his chair and announced...

    Josswest-all equiptment for sale

I guess you are finally retiring from the cue business and joining the ranks of us FROGs. (F***ing Retired Old Geezers) I'll bet you have some projects to keep busy with even if you are not building cues. Best wishes from one of your old Cotton Palace buddies.

    "Confessions of a Pool Hustler"

I just lent your book to an old friend of mine Robert, I just lent your book to an older guy whose nickname is Dakota. He used to own a pool hall in Cleveland. His real first name is Elmer, but I have forgotten his last name. He just read a "pre-release" copy of Alf Taylor's book and liked it...

I've heard Mr. Bill Stroud is

Glad to hear you still enjoy the game. I play an hour or so a day and not much better than back in 1963, so you could give me about 8 to 4 and the break. Alfie finally got a book put together, but is still looking for a publisher or literary agent. Which reminds me, you're an obvious candidate...

I've heard Mr. Bill Stroud is

I can't say how he plays today, but he played pretty sporty when I first knew him back in 1963. By the time I left to go back to college in 1964, Billy was generally acknowledged to be the best 9-Ball player in Dallas. I bought a cue from him in 1980 (the cue was $200 with two shafts and I paid...

    Interesting early gambling experiences!

A very interesting story. Thanks for sharing. I think he assumed you knew he was only asking you to hold the cue until he could settle up his $600 debt. If he didn't make it perfectly clear, then it's on him in my opinion.

You know you are in trouble in your One Pocket match when....

At that point I would have taken a bathroom break and on the way to the restroom I'd have asked a friend to call me on my cell in five minutes. When I took the call, I'd have told the trucker that I was really sorry, but there was a family emergency and I had to leave.:D:D:D:p

You know you are in trouble in your One Pocket match when....

While it may not seem obvious at first, standard One Pocket advice is to emphasize defense when you are way ahead and offensive when you are way behind. If you are way ahead, you should move balls up table so that your opponent is not likely to be able to put together a run of several balls...

You know you are in trouble in your One Pocket match when....

Exactly! I have long held the opinion that when significant weight is involved, and if you know nothing about either player, the player giving weight is better than even money to win the session. I keep pretty close records of my gambling sessions and over the past three years I have won about...

You know you are in trouble in your One Pocket match when....

The other day I was playing a strong local player who was giving me 10 to 6 and the break. At one point in the match he shot a long rail bank and rather than moving the cue ball to a relatively safe position, he played position for a follow-up shot on another object ball leaving me a couple of...
