Great Site with Pool Player Pictures

Photo credit Many of the photos on Rod's site are from the collection that can be accessed via the link in my signature. It is common for people to use photos from my site without giving photo credit, but I have to agree with macguy who would rather the photos be seen and enjoyed even if no...

The slip stroke; not its definition, but its purpose

Thanks for the post, Fran. After reading your post, I am anxious to try this at my next practice session.

The slip stroke; not its definition, but its purpose

I'm thinking this may apply in my case, where I seemed to get more spin on the cue ball with about a 3 inch slip stroke. Cue speed at impact may have been slightly higher and my follow through a couple of inches longer. Great post, by the way. Nice to see some real data!:)

The slip stroke; not its definition, but its purpose

Sorry, "Junior" doesn't ring a bell for me. I was around the Dallas pool scene in the early 1960s. In those days, Billy Stroud was one of the best 9 Ball players in the area. Other names I recall off the top of my head are Jack and Alfie Taylor, Georgia Slim (Robert Burrell), Jerry Trigg, Dick...

The slip stroke; not its definition, but its purpose

In another thread, there was a long debate over whether Mosconi, on occasion, used a slip stroke. Without going into the somewhat tedious hair-splitting about the definition of a slip stroke, for me, it entails sliding your hand toward the butt of the cue during the final backstroke. When I...

    Mosconin stance

One more pic of Willie Here's a shot of Willie taken by my friend Mike Haines at an exhibition in San Antonio back in 1987. Since Lou mentioned masse shots, I thought I'd show you guys a photo of him shooting one.

Are you getting better? Compare this!

I'm 73, and my self of 50 years ago would surely beat me playing 9 Ball or other rotation games. But I could give him a ball playing One Pocket and just toy with him. Only problem is, he was a nit and I wouldn't win much. :D

    Mosconin stance

I agree, and yes, I did see Mosconi play back in the 1960s. He didn't use a slip stroke on every shot, not even on most shots. And it was nowhere near as much hand movement as Jimmy Moore's slip stroke.

I have so many memories of Jack, his quick wit and funny stories, his smooth pool game, and his friendliness toward me. I remember the time, back...

How do I register a friend for the DCC banks?

Gee, Johnny, why did you have to "out" me like this???? :D:D Actually, I was going to register Chester Couch, a guy you probably know. I guess I will just create an account under his name and do it that way. I recall doing this a few years ago from Mike Leek Jr. and back then, I could enter a...

How do I register a friend for the DCC banks?

Thanks for your reply. I am not going to enter the event myself. I just don't see any option for entering the name of a player other than myself.

Low Deflection vs Standard Deflection Cues

Well put.... Nicely stated, Fred. I agree. I've played with many low deflection shafts (Predator, OB, and others) and liked OB best, but right now I'm playing with a non-low deflection shaft and liking it just fine.

How do I register a friend for the DCC banks?

Still wondering how to do it I hope it'll be OK to give this thread one bump. After this, I'll let it die a natural death. Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

How do I register a friend for the DCC banks?

I was trying to register a friend for the DCC banks and as I proceeded through the process, I never saw any option to put in a name other than my own. Any suggestions?
