Ho long did it take you to go from D to C player?

Great post...thx! I'm only a D player and I do feel like my game is trying to catch up to my knowledge. Obviously it's not OVERWHELMING knowledge but I do read a lot on the game both in books and on the internet. And when I play I have a very good idea of how the balls are "supposed" to react...

Ho long did it take you to go from D to C player?

I think I should clarify something, because I see a lot of posts stating that playing against difficult competition makes you better. I don't play against anyone else. Except my 2 brothers when they come over and they're at my level... except they only play once a week as opposed to every day...

Ho long did it take you to go from D to C player?

I assumed that the description here was accurate: http://billiards.colostate.edu/threads/ratings.html#NPL (read "A-D" ratings) But what Andrew just posted sounds pretty good as well :)

Ho long did it take you to go from D to C player?

Thanks for all the responses so far. I know it's different for everyone. That's why I was hoping people would share how long it took them personally to advance. Thanks again and keep'em comin' :)

Ho long did it take you to go from D to C player?

Just curious how long it takes a player who dedicates time and effort to improving their game (by this I mean practicing 2 hrs a day) to go up in levels? For example how long did it take you to go from D to C player? I remember when I picked up tennis I went from a 0 to a 3.0 in about 8 or 9...

One of the support beams in my table is loose. Is this normal?

Disregard. I actually talked to one of the mechanics at Vitalie and he said it was ok. Sorry to have posted before calling them.

    8 ball Instruction

I purchased "Mastering Pool" used from amazon for about $10 shipped. Here is a link in case the OP is interested: http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Pool-George-Fels/dp/0809278952/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272952904&sr=8-1 I haven't read the part on 8ball yet because I'm so obsessed with...

    cuball control on break?

I've read that you have to hit the cueball slightly below center on the breakshot to try to get it to stay in the center of the table. The problem is mine always bounces all the way back to the rail (breaking for 8ball BTW), and I don't even break hard! I break from the center of the table...

    Colin Colenso potting test

8pack, that's some impressive shooting! You say you're a firm believer in drills so I'm wondering what shotmaking drills you practiced that helped you improve to the point you're at now? Mind sharing?

3-ball and 14:1 - how do they help you?

Creedo, your posts are always so informative. I've only been a member here a short time and already you've helped me so much. Thank you. Question: Wouldn't you agree though that a certain level of experience is required to benefit from 14.1? In my case, for example, i'm a beginner who...

Am I taking care of my cue correctly?

I called Pechauer after purchasing one of their cues to ask them how to care for the shaft and I was told to avoid putting any of the shaft cleaning products on it. The only way to clean it safely is with a fine sandpaper (400 or higher) or send it to them about once a year.

    What's a good book/DVD for English?

Instead of using a cue ball use a striped ball. Set it on the table with the stripe perfectly horizontal. Chalk up your cue and try to make your tip hit as low as possible on that stripe. After your shot find the chalk mark and see if it's where you were aiming. When I did this I found that...

    What's a good book/DVD for English?

I am a beginner, so I don't know if you'd be interested in my opinion, but I have found the books "Play Your Best Pool" by Phill Capelle and "99 Critical Shots of Pool" by Ray Martin to be extremely helpful. Neither of them focus solely on english ofcourse but they do cover the subject...

Pain in left hamstring. Any experience with this?

I definitely have a lot of weight on my bridge hand. My arm and fingers are sore as well (especially my pinkie). I'm going to experiment with the stance you're suggesting. Thanks for all the responses.

Pain in left hamstring. Any experience with this?

Anyone else experience pain in hamstrings? I'm right handed so most of my weight goes on my left (front) leg when I shoot. I've been having some pain in my left hamstring and it seems to be getting worse. I am a very heavy guy and I have been playing quite a bit (2-3 hrs a day) since I got my...

Can someone explain why my eyes deceive me like this? (draw shot)

Thanks for all the responses guys... Get this, I just got finished practicing and I discovered that when I'm trying to hit a force-follow shot the same thing is happening but in reverse! When I first said that I had shot with follow and the chalk was exactly where I was aiming it was true, but...

Can someone explain why my eyes deceive me like this? (draw shot)

Thanks for all the responses. I video-taped myself and I'm definitely dropping my elbow. The thing is I can't tell if it's before or after contact with the cueball. Phil Capelle says in "PYBP" that the elbow should drop at or after contact with the cueball. RandyG and Scott Lee; however...
