    Last Pocket 8-ball Rules?

I almost always decline when some player wants to play by these rules. The only players who ever want to play these rules are shitty players who can barely run 3 balls. I can play play perfect patterns, run out to the 8, and not have a shot at the end, and then lose to some mediocre player who...

    Last Pocket 8-ball Rules?

Proposition games are a terrible way to play. This includes last pocket 8-ball and bank the 8. Bad players like it because it usually forces a player to come with some ridiculous trick shot at the end to win the game. Here's what typically happens when you play one of these goofy...

    APA team question

Not only is the safety break illegal, but it rarely works. I tried it. It's no good strategy-wise. The best thing to do is dead center break. Cue ball on the head string straight away from the 1-ball. This gives up maximum cue ball control. Take a little bit of speed off of the break. As...

    APA team question

I've been in this situation many times as the high skill level player and team captain. One one particular team, I was a SL7 and I couldn't play unless our SL2 played. I liked the guy, but he was terrible and rarely beat anybody, and he knew how bad he played. I used to obsess over...

    NAPA Leagues

You're always going to have those types of problems with any handicap system. I've had the same problem. I was one of their grand master players, ranked about 25 in the nation, and I had to give some ridiculous spots to a few players who played way better than their skill levels indicated...

    NAPA Leagues

They have a ridiculous number of stats on the national site all right. The national rankings are really cool too. I haven't played in that league in almost 1 year, but I was ranked around 25 nationwide in 8-ball.

    NAPA Leagues

NAPA has a terrific handicap system, compared to that of the APA. It's a great pool league. The handicap is a lot tougher, and you can't cheat like you can in the APA because they don't count defensive shots and safeties, which rarely ever get marked correctly to begin with. They have a...

Should a player's handicap drop when he reaches a certain age?

The best league player I ever played against was about 70 years old and he beat everybody even though he was way past his prime.

    Head String Line

I like the idea of drawing the headstring line. I've had people accuse me of breaking the balls beyond the head string and if a line had been drawn on the tables then this wouldn't have been a problem.

Embrace The Crappy Table -or- Run The Other Way?

Bad equipment ruins the game! Pool's hard enough without having to contend with dead rails, balls rolling off, over sized cue balls, etc. The more skill you have, the bigger disadvantage you are at. Bad players will play bad regardless of the equipment. A good player is at a much bigger...

    Best break tip?

It's all a matter of personal preference. Most people like to break with a super hard tip. I don't any more. I use a medium Tiger Sniper tip and it works great for me.

    Best Breaker in the Game!!

Shane Van Boening without a doubt for both 9-ball and 10-ball. There are other players who break harder, but his cue ball control in both games and pocketing of the wing ball in 9-ball is second to none. If you watch some of his 2012 U.S. open 9-ball matches, you'll see the greatest 9-ball...

Most balls you've ever seen pocketed on the break?

I remember watching a 9-ball tournament on ESPN where Allen Hopkins was doing commentary, and he said he once saw a player make 8 balls on a 9-ball break. He also said the only ball that wasn't pocketed on that break was the 9-ball.

    AZ Forum has connection issues..

I have had numerous connectivity issues over the past few months. Yesterday, it took about 5 minutes to upload 2 small images. Several times when I clicked on a thread, the thread would lot load at all or would take several minutes to load. These issues occur from time to time. The mostly...

What is the ultimate pool fan experience.

I'd like to see handicapped amateur vs professional challenge matches, with an amateur player that has a little skill of course. Just give a whole lotta weight given to the amateur player so that the amateur is at least even money to win. This would be great for pool.

What is the ultimate pool fan experience.

I cannot understand why nobody has done this yet. This idea would make a fortune and it wouldn't even have to be scripted like all of these other so called reality TV shows. Please, Mark or somebody, follow this guy around with a camera everywhere he goes. One of these television networks...

    Custom cue with extension ?

I have a 59-inch Josey Sneaky Pete (29 inch butt and 30 inch shaft), and Keith built 2 (7-inch)custom extensions for me. http://joseycues.com/ I have 1 (7-inch) extension that screws into the butt cap, and 1 (7-inch) extension that screws into the shaft and butt. He charged less than $200 for...
