    WTB: Leather Chalk Holders

Thanks, I saw those. I would like to buy a bunch of them so for 100 that would be over $800. I am hoping to find them much cheaper. Thanks again *

    CNC troubles

That only tested your motor, right? It didn't check the cables or if there was noise, bad ground, short, bleeding, etc... You may want to try removing the cable from your X or Y and hooking it up to the Z axis motor. Then just jog the the X or Y and see if you still have the problem. If the...

    Program to design cues

Yes, talk to Kelly. Thanks for reminding me, I wanted to pickup a copy of that. Look on the Cue Machinery and Supplies Forum, I think its called Cue_Balance. His ID is Kelly_Guy here on AZ

    Best Leather Break Tip?

I'd suggest Madman as well. I put the 11 layer Madman Break Tip on my breaker. It breaks great and I have also used it as a Playing cue for several matches as well. Good control and even though its really hard I haven't had any miscue problems. I was planning to use a Samsara I bought...

    No, I used WS Epoxy.

    Worn out threads

Just did it to a shaft for a friend. I made a phenolic insert up, threaded and centered, bored the shaft, glued it in and faced off only the phenolic insert a thou or two under the original face so I didn't have to worry about it locating differently. And yes, I made sure the insert fit before...

    Carbide cutter bits unusual problem

Exactly. Hard but brittle. Make sure you are running fast enough and there is no chatter. Make sure inserts are seated properly and secure. Any vibration could damage them.

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

Sounds just like what I did when I worked in that job shop.... except I didn't do shipping. I didn't mind deburring (yes we all had to deburr our own work) unless it was really hard material. Had this one job made out of Monel (can't remember what it made up of but definitely had Nickel in it)...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

Very cool Just thought I'd throw it out there. I'll delete it in a couple days. You know, now that I think about it, it was SmartCam. We must have gotten a later version because it was more than a WP, it definitely had graphic displays of the parts and tool paths. That Faro Arm sounds really...

    Are JP's just decoration?

Actually, the only reason I have them on my cues is so I can get them out of my case easier. I have never dropped my butt or shaft but figure the most likely time I would is when removing those JPs.

CNC Programmer job in IL Just in case you or someone you know is looking for a CNC Programmer job. I got this from a headhunter today. I am only posting this here since this thread was about CNCs. I DO NOT KNOW HIM OR ANYTHING ABOUT THIS JOB. Here are the main points in the email. I can send...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

I've never used Gibbscam. I have an older copy on CD somewhere. Have a bunch of others too like ArtCAM, MaxNC, Rhino., BobCad, etc.. When I first started it was manually, line by line on a Commodore 64. I made up RS232 cables to hookup to all the machines so I didn't have to punch tapes any...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

Very nice. Years ago I was making the hatch covers for the VSL system. They were part of a system that was mounted on ships for launching missiles. These covers were hard as hell, probably about like cutting Iconel. It was taking forever and we were tearing up carbide and ceramics. This company...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

I thought A was the 4th axis?! I guess it depends on the machine. Its been close to 30 years but I remember a bunch of the G cdes. the 0*s were rapid, feed and cutter direction, 40's were cutter comp, 50's work coord., 70s and 80s were drilling, tapping, and boring cucles, 90 abs & incr. Don't...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

I think Don told me that machine has its own programming platform. I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would take to program that engine block manually. Although pretty impressive, I would look at each section individually when programming it. Even then, I wonder how long I'd have to sit...

Extra work - CNC vs. sharp points?

Since nobody answered, I'll give you one from a machinig view. The main difference would be writing the program and testing it. There is no reason you can't make razor sharp points on a CNC. Obviously, if you cut the points like an inlay (a pocket) then you will have a radius at every corner...

    For all you CNC Enthusiasts.....

This is not pool related so feel free to ignore or delete. Here is a link a Machinist buddy sent me awhile back to a video of a 5-Axis Matsuura CNC Mill machining an Engine Block COMPLETE without any operator intervention. I think this qualifies as badass. I'd say I want one but I'd totally...
