Have to 2nd the Madman Jump/Break tips. Very hard and still has good control. Sometimes I use my break cue to play and I haven't noticed any miscues so far.

Hard to tell with the pics but I don't think I like that one either. Seems like screwing them together you would tend to twist the tips when it gets tight. Might not be so bad for a single layer tip but on the laminates it might twist them apart. Could always make up some Delrin slugs to put in...

I would say its a fair deal. The lathe and the inlay machine are worth the $3k, the other stuff doesn't add a whole lot of value, maybe another $500.

Hardinge is still in business. They make good lathes, I worked with several different models when I was machinist but nothing as old as you have. Thats probably WWII era.. Go to practicalmachinist.com Someone over there should be able to help you out.
