Probably 4.5", because most tournament tables are now Diamond Pro-Cut, which are 4.5".

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

How about a time stamp where Grady calls them tight? 5" is the standard Gold Crown pocket size. Has been since the beginning of Gold Crowns in 1960something. Isn't your GC4 table 5"? The only way to get them smaller is a "Tournament Edition" from the factory, which started with the GC4 for a...

    My Fargorate progression

Yeah, that's the DigiBall prototype by our own Natadrho. It was super good. I had it for a couple weeks and used it in a bunch of matches.

    Pro Cut Pockets

You have to remember when Diamond came on the scene the only way to get a tighter pocket was for a mechanic to add shims. Diamond designed tighter pockets into their table by using longer cushions. They then gave that a marketing name, yes, of “pro-cut pockets”. It did deserve a marketing...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

No one will do it. Everyone talks crap that xyz is better than abc. But it's all talk. Same with the straight pool 7' vs 8' vs 9' debate that has been going on for 20 years.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

I'll make a bet for anyone here. Go play on a 9' GC with factory pockets. Play many rack of the ghost, at least a few hours worth. Then go do the same on a 7' Pro-cut Diamond. Your performance on the Diamond will be way better than the TDF difference of the tables. I'll bet with anyone here...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

I'm not a keyboard warrior. I did my own testing, and the 7' table is miles easier than the 9' table. To this day, I don't know of anyone who has done anything like I have on the 7' vs 9' for straight pool, which has always been the biggest debate of crowded vs more room bs. I backed up my words...

Legend has it a priest with the first name George in Greece many generations ago. Papas is the word for priest.

    My Fargorate progression

A bunch of updates... I moved out of my apartment in Atlanta and put my table into a storage unit. Unknown when it will be set up again. Mr Cues 2 in Atlanta cancelled their 10 ball weekly that reported to fargorate. The TD told me something to do with the room wanted APA league instead, which...

    44 Breaks & Only 3 Chances

That was the era of wood racks, and worn spots, and maybe they even used worn pool room balls in some events. It had nothing to do with the slate country of origin or the cushions or the table brand. You need a new set of balls and a magic rack. And replace the spot on your table, or remove it...

    Diamond pockets specs

I think there is actually something to that. On bigger pockets, there is more shelf area because of the round shape of the shelf. More of it is exposed. So the ball has more surface to hang up on. I’m not 100% on this, I didn’t do a drawing or anything. I believe other members said similar over...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

You change what shot is attempted, which is what I wrote. But once you decide to play a specific shot, you can't change the way it's hit (speed/spin/etc) because the pockets are tighter. You have to get the CB to the exact same place for the safety whether the pocket is 4" or 5". In one hole you...

    Pro Cut Pockets

I think they were more common in the early Diamond years. I don't think they really advertise them as much anymore. More like "you have to know about them to get them".

    Corey Deuel still good? Fargorate

I think corey was always over rated. I think the 780ish he is now might be what he was in his prime. He had a great year in 2001, and really nothing since.
