    What Low end Cuetec

Try to find one of the old Earl Strickland models. You should be able to find those for 100 bucks or less all day long:smile:. Tommy D.

    Safety Ideas

I can't remember where I saw it now because it isn't in this thread but I saw one on here somewhere where the guy was jacked up on top of a ball on a angle similar to a cross-side bank, and drew it across table and stuck his opponent behind a ball frozen on the opposite side rail, with just 2...

    Tip Burnisher

What I've used for years is a little spit, and a burnisher I made out of a old worn out leather wallet ;). It's about the size of a playing card. Brown cardboard like a matchbook cover or index card stock works too. Tommy D.

    New power for old Porpers

Chris himself posted pics a while back that showed he is indeed using these same motors on the Deluxe now, apparently for over a year now . Tommy D.

    Different Strokes

Different strokes Is your stroke a throwing motion or a deliberate hand action? Maybe a combination of both? You have to define it so you can refine it...Tommy D.

FargoRate: World Top 100 with recent changes

I have a question for Mike Page. Is this system able to assess what someone's rating would have been in a historical sense? For example, based on the Efren vs Earl race to 120,could you have given them a number based on that set or would it take more data than that? Thanks in advance,Tommy D.

What does schon use on new cues

I've been around a LONG time, and if they started sending out new shafts with anything other than their modded WB,it's a new thing. Maybe Seybert's or one of the other large supply companies that does customizing will change the tips on a stock shaft though. Tommy D.

    Pad for shoulder strap

The cheap and easily found answer is a seat belt pad you can find at any Wal Mart or auto parts store. You'll find then with the other car interior products like seat covers, floormats, etc. Tommy D.

    Schon ferrules

I have had a couple go thru my hands from around then, and as best I remember it was a slightly better version of Ivorine 3 than what McDermott was using in the same time frame. Evan told me one time that it was made specifically for him,but never said what it was called. From doing repairs on...

    ...

What kind of table is that? Sure looks well-built and maintained :). As far as your drill,is the table that slow that you feel like you naturally have to hit the shot with enough force for the shot to sound that loud? My basic point is as good as you hit the balls at that speed, you can...

    Installed cue tips falling off

From the looks of it,BOTH your ferrule and tip are much too coarsely sanded to give you a good glue surface. I personally have found the Predator ferrules to be kind of waxy and slick even with Loctite Professional,so to ensure the best bond,I use a CA accelerator. Tommy D.

    Schon R-12

Any chance this cue was floating around Tennessee in the mid 90's? If it was,I remember seeing this cue in person, but never got to hit any with it. Tommy D.

    "Nice shot"? Or no...

I had a guy one time jump my ass and try to start an argument because I DIDN'T tell him "nice shot" after he hooked himself and kicked 3 rails to make the ball LOL. Sometimes, something like that can certainly swing the opponent's mental state and momentum in their favor. Tommy D.

Which Cue Plays Better...Balabushka or Szamboti?

I've never seen or heard of a Gus or Barry that had structural issues. There was an old timer in Memphis at one time that had 2 Bushkas, one of them was a steel jointed 4 pointer, the other was a plain jane with an ivory joint. The ivory jointed cue felt and sounded like the A joint or something...

    Synthetic replacement for ivory ferrules?

Ivory ferrules in my book were the way to go for a long time. I still have one of the shafts original to my Schon ordered in 1990 that hasn't cracked yet. With ivory, weather care is critical. Avoid heat and cold by not leaving them in places you wouldn't lay down and go to sleep ;). Juma and...

    Synthetic replacement for ivory ferrules?

Mason Micarta is just about as nice as it gets. That being said, now that I'm cutting it with HSS,the 2 ferrules I did using the Arvorin/"resin ivory" from Warther's were amazingly nice when done, but no comment on playability yet. The Ivorine 4 stuff is hard to keep clean, and it's hard and...

    Where's the profit ?

My "business" is so small that even though I get customers from a 100 mile range,I've only had ONE customer ever pay me 35.00 for a Kamui that I had on hand here in town. The others I had on hand were sold and installed at my yearly tournament venue,I charged 40.00 with shaft cleaning included...

    Opponents with headphones

I spent the vast majority of my pool life more comfortable in LOUD bar-type places than the ones where it's so quiet you can hear bottles being set down on a hard table, shoes squeaking, etc. My hearing sensitivity tends to go up in competitive settings,so the background distractions stick out...

    Schon Joint Protector Finish

The original Dymondwood would take on an amazing polish with no clearcoat or sealer needed if done right. The only thing wrong with it was it STUNK. Tommy D.
