    List of cuemakers taking orders???

I got a reply from Mr. Hercek a few weeks ago but sadly he was not taking orders. He did however email back within a very short period of time. I wish I could have got on his list. Good customer service goes a long way in this world. Rick

    Fire for Hire

Fire It's sickening to think all those records could have been lost as a result of a deliberate act. For arguments sake, if someone intentionally started the fire what would the motive be for having your records incinerated? I'm thinking one could be to prove a sort of an alibi, the other...

    Sharks???? Really???

Except "Pirahnaconda"! It's like a comedy with no intended humor. Personally, I praise anyone for their ambition and creativeness to make something from nothing. Like short films or cue cases. Rick

Stranger in a Minnesota Pool Hall

If that's true hopefully one partner can buy the other one out. It would be a shame to lose this one. I don't think pool is that bad up here. Sure it could be better but during the fall and winter there are options (leagues, small nightly tournaments, and MPA tournaments.) In the summer it's...

Stranger in a Minnesota Pool Hall

Jr I also really enjoy playing at Jimmy's. It has great ambiance. It just has that "vintage" pool room feel. Plenty of free parking and great food are definitely added benefits. JAM, I think Junior is still alive and wagging. While I was there for a tournament a few months ago I noticed a...

What Is Your Pool-Related Superstition ?

Chalk All chalk on the table needs to be facing upright. I will correct any chalk that is turned down before I shoot. It's probably half superstition and half etiquette. I also don't like to wish my opponent "good luck" before the match. I'll usually reply with a "let's have a good match"...

What's up with this cue for sale on E-bay?

You're probably right. Scam would be a harsh label. It's definitely a strange ad though. I just personally think it's weird to withhold such important information from a buyer. I guess everyone does business differently. Full disclosure is the best policy in my book.

What's up with this cue for sale on E-bay?

Scam! It definitely seems like a scam even if it is a real Samsara. It also seems like this guy isn't even the owner of the cue based on the seller's agreement with the owner not to divulge the maker. Imagine being the owner of a consignment shop and a guy comes in wanting to sell his car. He...

    Photographing Pool Tournaments

Photo Metmot, thanks for the replies. If the pictures were touched up a little after the fact, can that be done using regular format or do you need to shoot in RAW? While we are on the software topic...is there a basic free version that is recommended? Thanks, Rick

    Photographing Pool Tournaments

Photos Is it the low numbered aperatures that make those great crisp colors? Is this a result of letting more light in? Would you typically have your shutter speed at a faster setting? Steve, very nice pictures. You certainly have a lot of talent. The one's that seem to "pop" the most are the...

    Photographing Pool Tournaments

Yeah it's definitely good to call and ask before. I'm not looking to sneak any pictures. The lens my camera came with probably isn't the best (Sony DT55-200mm) but it should work for now. At least to play around with for a bit. I should probably find something else to take pictures of for the...

    Photographing Pool Tournaments

What's the general consensus about taking photos at pool tournaments? I recently got a new DSLR and am looking to try it out. I want to start with areas that interest me and pool is certainly one. I'm not looking for tips like keep your flash off but is it generally accepted to take pictures...
