    Aiming System

That's good. Ya know we all envision things differently and adapt differently as well. I actually find thin cuts work well with this method. Again, I say that I like to call it an alignment method as well. Best way I describe it, if you ever noticed Mika coming down on a shot, he seems to...

    Aiming System

This system is a more in depth, elaborate explanation as to why the system I have preached forever works. SVB uses this type system. BTW, I like to think of this as an alignment system as well. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5988W41mgcY

2 things in billiards I will never understand..

Well ... prepare to understand. 1. The joint protectors. Screwing over the male thread protects your case by preventing the threads from going into it. Threading the protector into the female end protects your shaft from the lint in your case going into it. Now for your second quandary ...

    Best training cue ball?

Hmm, I suppose in that regard you have a point, if you consider this important. Wouldn't the result of the shot simply tell you if you contacted the CB correctly, and where you hit it? I can't imagine a stroke getting corrected in this manner however. How the hell hard are you smashing that CB...

    Best training cue ball?

Really ... I think those training balls are COMPLETELY a gimmick. After, first of all you are the one that has to level and plumb the thing ... secondly your 1 oclock english and my 1 oclock english are two entirely different things that will result in two entirely different outcomes. The...

When is a Foul a Foul?

So... perhaps, subconsciously, you took the choice in this tough joint to be safe instead of sorry, cause the only way to know for sure no one saw you was to walk out that door and see if you make it. That's a risk in and of itself. Seems there was some additional consideration and mental...

When is a Foul a Foul?

Just curious here ... how may honest men pick up the CB automatically without being called on it, when they foul for 100 or 200 a rack?

    Thoughts on a Schon cue

Not me.. selling cues isnt quite as easy as selling chocolates on valentines day. Id buy a decent but cheap shaft on ebay. But thats just me. You tell the person you sell it to, the shaft is a decent playing shaft. You can always buy a better one and have this as back up.

Suggestions for layout of Game/Billiards Room?

Cut out a rectangle scaled to your drawing that measures 15' x 20'. Try to place it in your room. You won't need to consider playing space at all since it is already included in your cut out. Saves on lots of figuring.... just make it fit to the walls.

Can't keep cuetip still even while aiming.

I'd like to offer a thought. Of course if there are major fundamental flaws that prevent you from aligning your body and delivering the cue gently through the CB with a light grip, things like this should be observed and corrected. Short of that ... My initial thought was you should pay far...

    POOL: Little Epiphanies...

Great post Jaden. This is so true. This is the essence of improving. As you said, it most often comes at the table and it is usually, something that clicks in a fraction of a second. Pieces of the puzzle. The more you experience them, the better you can manipulate the pieces into not only...

    I'm DONE with instructional DVD's

Well said ... and you'll never experience those epiphanies practicing the same way over and over and over. IMO practice isn't the secret. Experimenting is the secret. Finding where the grease fitting is in that elbow of yours is the secret. How loose can you hold the cue without dropping it...

How to build the most basic lathe just for cleaning shafts, & how much would it cost?

Not at all a problem. As I said, you simply buy one of these rheostats ... lock the drill on high .... and run it through this resistor and set to any speed you want. If you can see it in the picture there is a female plug on the bottom for the drill. In addition, you can incorporate a foot...

How to build the most basic lathe just for cleaning shafts, & how much would it cost?

I happened upon this ... may be of value to someone ... You can buy those rubber cups to hold the cues separately BTW http://www.grizzly.com/products/Hobby-Lathe-Disc-Sander/H2669

How to build the most basic lathe just for cleaning shafts, & how much would it cost?

That would be silly, especially hard bolting the shaft to a threaded rod and then chucking that into a drill .. too dangerous. That's why the shaft is slid into a nice soft rubber cup. The cup is the thing secured by the drill chuck, not the shaft. LOL ... I guess if you don't have a touch of...

How to build the most basic lathe just for cleaning shafts, & how much would it cost?

Thanks but I'm as lazy as I am handy .... I bought that initial tool just to save time fabricating. There's really nothing wrong with the design for on the cheap, and buying the aluminum and rollers and cutting it up myself probably wouldn't save much money ... but holding it down with clamps...

How to build the most basic lathe just for cleaning shafts, & how much would it cost?

I bought that setup on ebay and added some materials I got at home depot. A few pieces of hardwood, a few lengths of bar steel to act as slides and some clear plastic tubing that serves well as a collet to protect the shaft area that rides on the wheels from damage. I welded up a homemade rest...

    Table in attached garage?

My suggestion to you would be to gain a bit of information regarding installing steel reinforcement plates in order to remove a lally column. It might be as simple as that to make the difference between being able to fit a 9' table and not. Considering this option, opens up lots of housing...
