    Fats wanderone

Where is the other thread? "Hustler days" talks about Fats being entered in the first two Johnston City events...maybe the OP didn't hear about that, or did it never happen?

    Question for you Import/Export Guru's

and you want to cut it up for a case?! How is it not hanging on your wall?? :) Also, somewhat related: is it true that they have cracked down on shipping ivory cues into the US? Is it still possible to have cues with ivory shipped in from overseas makers? Do they still paint them over for...

    Here's why pool is dying....

No, it has declined ridiculously since its 2004/2006 heydays. At one time the neighborhood in PHX I worked in had almost every bar running hold-em events, now it is down to 1 place. That pattern holds true across the valley, and even casino poker is down at casino arizona. The poker fad is...

    Here's why pool is dying....

Poker is to blame for pool's decline?! 7 or 8 years ago almost every bar in the country was running some sort of texas holdem thing every week (sometimes 3 or 4 times a week)....Now?

I have always seen the orange crush played that way also, i.e. 5 out and breaks. PHX/PNW. Weird.

Donald Duck explains the diamond system

Glad some of you enjoyed this. :) There was another Disney cartoon about pool (14.1) that was pretty entertaining also and featured Scrooge along with Donald iirc. I can't find that one anywhere though. :(

Donald Duck explains the diamond system

Yes, really. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM2LjQrwO6g I remember being shown this as part of a series in school years ago. They present a basic introduction to a diamond system and the game of 3 cushion. If this is old or reposted a zillion times please delete the thread mods. Just...

Who's the best TV pool commentator

thought of another great commentator: Robert Byrne! A buddy of mine had a box of old accu-stats vhs tapes, and the 3 cushion ones were very entertaining to watch, not only for the play but the great commentary by Byrne! He used to have a partner with an English accent who's name escapes me...

Who's the best TV pool commentator

I always like the older accustats matches with Grady and Billy, they manage to crack me up sometimes when they disagreed. :) Varner is great too. I watched a pool stream once from the NW that had Dan Louie commentate and he was really insightful and had a pleasant style to him also; he should...

Can I get some opinions on my Logo

I like Bill's suggestion, or maybe just go vertical with it, and make the left vertical line/"backbone" of the K go straight down into the vertical/'spine' of the T? Damn I wish I had mspaint on this laptop, hard to explain what I mean. :( Yeah, my first thought was this for some reason...

if Pool is a sport, then define "sport'

Who is drunker, a guy with a .10 BAC level off of beer, or the guy with a .10 BAC off of 'more efficient' booze? (Hint: they are the same) Try explaining that to the cops if you got pulled over and breath tested and blew a .10: "I'm not drunk, I was only drinking beer, not hard alcohol which...

How Are The Bars and Coin-Ops Doing?

He is actually right in this case though. Business after the smoking ban in PHX was pretty horrendous, then we got hit with the economic depression double whammy. Things are still not where they were before, but most of the closures are over because the 'borderline' places are already long gone...

if Pool is a sport, then define "sport'

They use the weight of the lifter to determine the tie breaker if both lifted the same amount of weight, which is pretty arbitrary, considering they do not correct for height differences. Two people lifting the exact same amount of weight are equally strong regardless of body weight. Strength...

if Pool is a sport, then define "sport'

A 150lb guy who benches 200 is not stronger than a 300lb guy who benches 300. Because "stronger" is a measurable statistic. In this case, the amount of absolute weight bench pressed, and 300 is more than 200. The 150lb guy might be stronger pound for pound, but that is a meaningless statistic...
