Miz, more elegant in his simplicity. Sublime, in fact.

another armed robbery home invasion...AZB's Billiardchick

Man, I should clue you in in case you blurt out that phrase in the future and risk getting punched in the face. The phrase "couldn't have happened to a nicer_____" is something you say when you're glad something happens to someone who deserves it, whether that something is good or bad. In this...

1/2 and 1/2 Ferrule: What are the possible benefits?

Whatever was the point of using ivory, it was negated by the plastic, and visa versa. What he's done is made it possible that at some future point the ferrule will split where it is joined. The plastic will either pop off or you'll hear a clicking noise if it loosens.

1/2 and 1/2 Ferrule: What are the possible benefits?

Like a lot of things in life, you have to commit. This sounds like a gimmick. I'm assuming you mean a plastic ferrule ON TOP OF ivory, but it sounds like you're saying a core ivory with a shell plastic. I don't know which you mean. If it's a core ivory and a shell plastic, it won't do anything...

One size does not fit all.

Instructors teach what they know, not what is easiest. If they were brilliant enough to condense all of pool knowledge to a simple line of code that explains what is easiest, they would be geniuses. They teach only what they know, and THAT is why one size does not fit all. Or more plainly put...

Pro's and con's of very small diameter shafts?

Logic says you are right, but practically, I've seen others (and me too btw) missed in the most unfathomable ways when switching to thin shafts. I had to bear down and focus on striking true, which by the way, ultimately help retrain my stroke.

Pro's and con's of very small diameter shafts?

Patrick you're very knowledgeable, but next time watch a mediocre player who's been playing with a 13, try to play with a 12. And watch him miss all his shots by a mile until he starts to focus more on correcting his stroke and making sure he hits the cb where he's aiming. Johnny Archer was on...

Mike Bender is a GREAT machinist of cues. Far as how his cues hit, I think he offers a few choices in tapers.

Why do we down our heros of this sport ?

No, but he played in the dead ball era, and not with the superball baseball uses today. Back then you didn't see 2nd basemen knock out 50 homers. But now we're digressing, are we not.

Why do we down our heros of this sport ?

You are disregarding a few things, Mosconi DID highrun on oversized pockets or somesuch, and Earl IS a POS. And no one ever says Gehrig was nothing because he was simply one of the 5 greatest and defining baseballers of all time. Plus he had a beloved movie made about him played by one of the...
