    The Inevitable Question?

You have it backwards for the international players. All the players will (assuming their cash prize was large enough) incur a tax liability in the US. Efren, for example, will lose almost half of his prize to US taxes regardless of his residence in the Phillipines. In general, except in...

"The Checks are in the mail." Oh Dear...

If you can handle payouts, fully conforming to IRS and PATRIOT act requirements, for several hundred people from dozens of countries when the payouts aren't known until the day the checks are cut, bearing in mind that there are "sponsors" who also need reimbursement, without any inaccuracy in...

    Go Harriman Go!

Varner I can forgive- the rack of balls probably weigh as much as he does. But Owen is a dead ringer for Chris Farley in that last picture! I half expect the table to collapse underneath him, followed by David Spade chasing after him, hitting him with a cue.

    Congrats to Jasmin

She also had one less win than Robles, who went 4-1 to win the group. Pagulayan and Majid each had 3 wins. With winning percentages of 58.25% and 56.86%, they each were pretty far ahead of Ouschan. 3 of Robles matches were won when both were on the hill. What a tight group!

    Congrats to Thorsten Hohmann!

I quoted you, but I was actually referring to the posters saying that he would be hit with German tax in addition to US tax. Sorry for the confusion. But if he files a return, he should be able to recover... assuming his actual tax liability is less than 30%. I don't see why he needs a green...

    Congrats to Thorsten Hohmann!

It's actually irrelevant where Thorsten lives. Income earned outside of Germany is not subject to German tax. The US is one of the few countries in the world to impose taxes on foreign income.

How Much Tax on the $350,000?

Gambling winnings are taxed as ordinary income. You can deduct any gamling losses on (on schedule A), to the extent of any winnings. Most people have more losses than winnings. However, IPT payouts are not likely to be considered gambling. In all liklihood, any player will report it as...

    How far will Allison go?

hard to win when your opponent has 6 break and runs in a race to 8!

How Much Tax on the $350,000?

That's not exactly correct. The US is one of the few nations to tax its citizens (and permanent residents) for income earned abroad. They offer relief in the form of a foreign earned income exclusion (of 80,000 max, prorated for time worked in the US during the year) or a credit for foreign...

    Varney pictures...

How is that no one has "claimed" this yet? If the competition is still up, I claim this cue! (or did I miss another one?)

Anyone going to the 14.1 Tourney from NYC?

You're playing at 9am on saturday? That's going to rough!

    World 14.1 Championship Group Draws!

Danny Barouty: 287 Tony Robles: 267 Archer has a 200 unfinished. Sigel, Varner and Garcia have all run over 300. What do you consider "still playing big events"?

Choking on the 9ball - why?

I bet you don't actually miss the 9-ball significantly more often than other balls... but because it's the last ball you notice it more.

    Youtube Pool Video Channel

Letting the white loose, and taking that brown in the side, it's clear to this non-snooker player that O'Sullivan was show-boating. I guess the frame was done, and a maximum wasn't possible, so why not? People in the audience seemed entertained.

Object ball "Skid" - real or just a BS excuse?

Before anyone decides to respond to this, it's all been said.

    Mosconi video

I agree completely. The clip is also short enough (from a 2 hour video) that it may not actually be a violation. Had accu-stats posted the clip instead of "muffindeingles", I'm sure it would generate sales.

    Mosconi video

This is the first I've seen. I'm amazed at how effortless he makes it seem. In the second rack he had some tough shots, but that first rack made me feel like anyone should be able to run a rack in straight pool. I may need to go out and buy an older video of him nearer his prime.

    Mosconi video

I imagine these will get pulled soon, as it seems to be a copyright violation, but here's a video of an old Willie Mosconi playing Jimmy Caras: Mosconi I assume this is from 1991, at the Valley Hall of Fame Dinner Show

    The DUMBEST bar rules.....GO...

Was playing in a bar last night with my girlfriend. We play this one meat head, who plays a triple combo, but lucks in the 2nd ball on a carom. He says "I meant that" even though he clearly said " 9 - 10 -15" and not "9 10 off the 15". We gave in, knowing we'd still win anyway. Later, he...

    The DUMBEST bar rules.....GO...

Except for the BIH, that's apparently standard English eight ball rules. http://www.epa.org.uk/wrules.php What happens if you foul on your first "visit"- do you still get your second "visit", and then your opponent gets two?
