Kevin, Thanks for the kind words. It was a pleasure working on your table and I'm sure it will bring your game up a notch or two!

    Frederick Willy table

It was slate (luckily for me a crowned one)!

    Frederick Willy table

I believe I also had the (dis)pleasure of working on one of these gems. Definitely a unique design, along with the fact that the side aprons were some kind of "custom" home job that were permanently nailed to the table. There was no way to access the edge of the slate once the slate...

    Repair screw holes

A quick easy trick I use is to break off a piece or two of toothpick and add a few drops of super glue. Also works well for slate screw holes that are too big to hold the screw tight.

Well said, Mark. I couldn't agree more! I too owe a lot of what I've learned from RKC and hope to get to work with him again soon... :D

    "Diamondized" GC III

The castings were the originals... he had them powder-coated and they turned out great! They don't exactly match up even with the rails, there is a slight bump but nothing too bad.

To answer your question.... no The glue is applied in a thin layer and doesn't change any dimensions.

    "Diamondized" GC III

Yes unfortunately Alabama is out of my jurisdiction :( I would hate to guess what it would cost without a detailed list of all the parts and services you need. You should get in touch with Mark Gregory (perfectpocketz) for that kind of work... he would do an excellent job for you :yeah:

    "Diamondized" GC III

 Thanks Mike, The Diamond K55 cushions fit fine on a GCIII, no extra modification needed. I was able to play a few games on the table when I was finished and it plays great. New Diamond cushions + a super tight 860 HR install = a fast track! The corners were spec'd out at 4.5" and...

    Home-Made Featherstrips

Jay, I agree with all of the good points you make about the basswood, only problem is.... Where do you buy basswood lumber and how does it compare cost-wise to poplar?

    Home-Made Featherstrips

I make my own featherstrips and have always used Poplar with good results. Does anyone else make their own and what kind of wood works best for you?

    questions about 9ft tables

Look through the archives and you'll find several examples of older Gold Crowns that have been refurbished with new cloth, cushions, subrail extensions, and other rail modifications. So I guess to answer your question, yes indeed they can be made to play well. (you just need to be able to find...

Anybody know where I can get some Aramith decals similar to the one circled under the side pocket? I need at least 22 of them. (FTR Diamond no longer stocks them) :(
