Is it easier/is it possible to re-thread a shaft, or is it easier to replace a joint pin in a butt?

It involves drilling/boring the old threads out and boring to a specific dia. that then, a pre-made plug of what ever material the repair guy wants to use gets inserted with epoxy, and once the epoxy is dried, that than gets bored and tapped for the joint pin to fit into.

    Penn State Motor question

They have never been replaced until now, up til now they were original. I replaced them yesterday and it didn't change the problems. One was completely dead and the other runs at high speed. The dead one, I found the thermister was way outta specs, replaced it with the one from the other board...

    Penn State Motor question

Just had another controller go down, and seems to be the MOSFETs on both. Just got a 5 pack in. 1RFP250N is the number on mine. I adjusted the High and low speed settings on the board on both of them before they failed. First one ran for 3-4 months and the second one ran for about 2 weeks before...

    Break Shaft

Well...like you, I have the same right to speak my mind. BTW, read the First post....asked for a CUE! The Question asked was build a CUE (changed after the fact to a shaft) for less than 300 according to his criteria. I have dealt alot as of late with many people that feel they should dictate my...

    Break Shaft

Why do people think that THEY can dictate the price of what someone will build from scratch, to their specs....? When your go to work, do you do your job for pennies simply because the customer tells you to? WTF.....

    Predator 314 Pre Cat Ferrule

I would recommend taking length measurements, then, while machining the old one off, measure the cap thickness. make sure to clean the glue off. I believe it is more of a .390 tenon. I always custom size the ferrule to the tenon on those. Also, should use either isoplast or tomahawk, otherwise...

    Penn State Motor question

Has anyone had their penn state variable speed controller just be at the highest speed right from turn on? Worked foine then all of a sudden, I turned it back on and it ran at the highest speed. The speed control pot is good, and the high and low small pots on the board are not affecting the...

    Tiger IB+ Material?

This is one of their jump/break shafts with an orange all in one tip/ferrule. Don't know what it is made of, but seem to shatter pretty well. My customer went to jump a shot and chunks flew off and that's what they got when they were looking at it after. Got to say haven't seen that happen when...

    Cuefits?

Usually, sending them an email or FB message should ALWAYS be the first step before posting here, It allows the merchant to respond to your question, without the merchant being made to look bad. I know everyone else, myself included, would like that courtesy, if we were the provider of the goods.

Can I install a white diamond break tip by hand?

all I am asking is to backup what you said was easy to do......a video showing it could help others to do it themselves......why not? I do all tip and repairs on lathes but there are some DIY'ers that could use the video of you using a belt sander to do the job, to be able to do it themselves. I...

Can I install a white diamond break tip by hand?

Funny how none of the replys have told the OP how to do a composite tp by hand, which they themselves are basically saying is easy.......(and they only mention concerning a leather tip.....and have not mentioned a composite tip) but that was not his question....where are the step by step...

Can I install a white diamond break tip by hand?

You are correct, as far as a normal leather tip goes, but My posts have been made concerning the Original Poster's question...Can he install a White Diamond Break tip without a lathe. So far only 2 of us have addressed the Actual question.

Can I install a white diamond break tip by hand?

Not saying it cannot be done, especially with leather....but doing a White diamond as the OP asked about, is a tough one to start to learn with. Biggest danger IMO, is damaging the ferrule while trying to make it flush with it. Another big point is that the ferrule MUST be flat and the tip...

Can I install a white diamond break tip by hand?

And....that's why it's ask the cuemaker forum, not ask the diy'er forum, especially if you haven't any experience in this topic. Doing a regular leather or layered tip can be quite a bit to learn, and after a learning curve, may look good....BUT a real break tip like the white diamond, G10...

How is a ferrule professionally repaired? (Mezz WX700)

Depending on the thickness of the ferrule, it can work well, or create a molten mess. I machine it down until I can just see the threads thru the plastic, then use a heat gun to remove the rest, usually can unscrew it. I also use the heat gun and a pick to remove any epoxy that is on the...

    Ferrule glue experiment

I seal the end grain with a thin CA, then hit it with accelerator. Then lightly reface and use system 3, 5 minute epoxy and the glue line issue seems resolved. I use the 5 minute as in my opinion, ferrules need to be changed at times. I thread mine, and have never had one come loose down the...
