    2024 World Pool Championship

I actually think you're both right to an extent. I think Tin Man is just defending the players and I get his point. With so much at stake, it shouldn't be expected of the players to play "fast" out of the kindness of their hearts. This is all on Matchroom at this point, and that's where I...

At least he balanced out his outfit it by sleeping in his pants. 😉

    2024 World Pool Championship

Agree about Tyler. That's where the constant practice can get someone IF they don't have a coach or another top player in their corner that they trust to help them tweak things. Pool is such a fine details game that I think even at the highest levels, a very minor tweak can help a player progress.

    2024 World Pool Championship

You may be right about the players at the world-class level but there's hope for those below if they maintain their health and their passion. I think Michigan's Jeremy Seaman is still improving. Maybe that's more of a seasoning thing vs a true aptitude increase, but it's hard to sort out that...

    Never forget Mike Lebron

The idea that someone in Vegas was taken for a few rolls of cash and it somehow killed pool's chances of making it big time is quite optimistic. Even the idea that sports betting in general was going to all of a sudden turn pool into something resembling a major sport is far fetched in my view...

    Never forget Mike Lebron

It's probably the most overblown thing in the history of pool. Had pool been a thriving sport, it would have drove the ratings UP. Instead, we blame this one-off situation for pool's demise. Make no mistake it was wrong on many levels but sports are full of betting scandals, and it's only going...

    Nick Varner

Nick's my all-time favorite player too. I still get enjoyment out of watching his old matches. Greatest all-around American of all time? Hard to argue with that. Fun fact: Balls pocketed all time, Nick Varner vs BasementDweller Nick Varner: 0 BasementDweller: 32 😀 Happy Birthday Mr. Varner.

Matchroom 2024 UK Open Nineball (7-12 May2024), Prize Fund $200K

It actually took a tremendous amount of courage for Keith to even attempt to play sober, even if he didn't get all the way there. I know amateurs that can't play in a rinky-dink local tourney without having a few drinks first. So trying to play in the US Open after years of playing a certain way...

Scheduling conflict- Matchroom Hanoi Open and Reyes Cup clash with Predator World 8-Ball Championship

"Supporting" teams, women, and juniors is exactly that. Sadly, I just don't see any profit in that down the road. 8 Ball and 10 Ball without the top players, effectively becomes an amateur tour. I don't see a path to success in that either.

Scheduling conflict- Matchroom Hanoi Open and Reyes Cup clash with Predator World 8-Ball Championship

Predator has one move left: Switch their game of choice to 9 Ball. Go with hat in hand to Matchroom. Request a partnership where they takeover most of the North American tour. This would help Matchroom as it would help revitalize the US Pool scene. Could become the WNT tour brought to by...

Advice on how to stay down on the shot more consistently?

Recognize that taking in your misses subconsciously is maybe as important as your makes. Forcing yourself to experience your poor alignment, aim, and stroke will help you dial in those aspects of your game on the next shot, but only if you experience all of it.

    The Reyes Cup

Exactly. Plus 9 Ball has been the main discipline for maybe 50 years now. Now you're stumbling closer to the truth. "Consistency" is not domination. Pool is just too hard to dominate even by the best players. And... in 9 Ball, there's really not even a single decade where you could say Efren...

    The Reyes Cup

I'm a huge Efren fan but the truth is -- he didn't dominate anything. His greatness lied in the fact that he was among the best players for a very long time, changed how the game was played, and did it all with a positive and classy attitude. His actual tournament results weren't really...

Bell Forest Robbed at Expo. Donations Needed

I've been a part of 2 GoFundMe campaigns. They were both legitimate causes for children with cancer. This isn't that. Anyone who questions those who may be a bit skeptical of this -- are living under a rock. Don't come on a public forum with your hat in hand, even if for someone else, if you're...

    BRIDGE LENGTH Effects and Considerations

Maybe but shooting with a level cue and extreme English is like shooting a mini masse shot. My shot isn't super common but after messing around with it for a bit I can see the potential value. I think I'm hitting it firm enough to not give the cue ball enough time to curve back after the initial...

    BRIDGE LENGTH Effects and Considerations

Not sure I agree with this. One shot I was messing around with recently and may have stumbled upon one of Efren's little secrets is where you use a traditional closed bridge with your bridge hand on the rail, instead of leveling out your cue as much as possible and using the top of the cue...

    New Pool Player Observations.

It sounds like you are enjoying the social aspect of the game. If you really want to get the most out of pool you have to embrace both the social side and the solitude found in practicing. Those that pick just one are missing out. Enjoy the ride.

Nick Varner is a Fargorate 777

By "outrun" I didn't mean they could keep up with the top ranked players in the WORLD. Just that they would perform better than their "average" Fargo Rating over the long term. Possibly like Varner has done. I still think it's probably the case. Of course, not everyone. Just players here and there.

Making an offer on Gold Crown III

Really? I get the deal side of it. I guess I'm just pointing out the value side of most used pool tables. If you play on it daily, paying a few thousand dollars for any pool table seems worth it. Now relative to what someone else paid for it -- maybe not. I just try not to live my life that way...

Making an offer on Gold Crown III

Sure thing. But having seen your table on here, I bet you wouldn't have regretted it had you paid a couple thousand for it. It's all relative to the usage.
