    Statement from LP Custom Cues

It's good to consider the feelings and opinions of others - but when you get right down to it - taking care of yourself (physically and mentally) is your key to a good life. Good luck and long life.

Why do you play in your pool league?

For decades, winning was key to my enjoyment of the Green Game. While I could tolerate a certain level of losing, too much losing caused clinical depression. During those years, my mind was "on the table" - that is, all of my focus was on following the concept of "playing the table". These last...

wanna know how to out a sandbagger ?

Ditto on this. That "cap" is what creates serious problems in team management. The 23 cap forces a dependency on below average team members. If it was a 25 cap, a lot of these problems would disappear.

    Billiard gloves

If parts of a glove are too loose or you want a tighter fit, turn the glove inside out and stitch up the loose area. If you have no needle skills, find someone who knows to make the adjustments.

in a slump, what made the biggest difference in your game?

You might also try playing 1 Pocket. If you have a local senior center with tables, you should be able to find some competition. Also check with the various local lodges (Elks, Eagles, etc.) which should dig out a couple more decent players. You can also get some action by starting a local...

Why don't we here about any of these top notch Chinese players?

A lot of them don't get the chance to get into the US circuits. There's a lot more money in the Asian regional tournaments than here in the US.

pool room closed - looking for alternatives- Boston MA

If you are in the age group, most senior centers have tables. You might consider joining a Lodge (Elks, Moose, Eagles, American Legion, etc.). They always have at least one table. If there isn't already a league among them, it isn't hard to get one started.

Should I get this Pool Hall?

Basically, this is your primary condition: If you can't make at least $100,000 take-home after expenses, walk away. A business owner puts in 60-100 hours weekly and needs that minimum level of compensation.

Back to shooting after a few months off...

Here's are 3 tips: 1. Before playing in any match, focus on progressive straight in shots (further and further away). If you know which side the OB is off (left or right of pocket), you can make manual adjustments when your brain says its perfect and before pulling the trigger. This little...

----- What kind of camera [camcorder] to record while I'm practising? -----

My video equipment setup Just about any video or smart camera works. Most cameras nowadays will do continuous standard video (9:6 or 4:3) and mine can do 60 frames per second bursts. Both types have tripod base connections. You need an electric plugin with a video camera, but can use a smart...

Relaxation techniques during a pool match?

Here is a simple trick that helps settle yourself down. Grab a chair, close your eyes and "watch" the game with your ears. After a while, you will be surprised how close your mind can be to the table game. (This does NOT work if the juke box is on.)

    Cork wrap

I've played with corked sticks in the past. The main problem was the material getting strained from hand oils, powder, etc. The material eventually gets shiny. How much would it cost to replace the cork? Can it be self-replaced? Where would you get the cork material and in what thickness?

With all the great iunstructional materials why are there still just a few greats

Look in any pool hall on weekend afternoons and you'll only find a handful of players actually trying material from books or setting up shots to improve a specific skill. Too many players simply learn by playing - meaning of course that they are going to take years to learn something an...

    Question regarding 8-Ball team play

Setting the rules up front is the only solution. In the two senior centers I play at, when a regular doesn't show up, the new boy is advised of the group's "standard modifications" before the games start.

What qualities or defects should I look for when buying a used table?

Shoot four "Round the World" shots. From each corner shoot "Round the World shots" (aim at the sixth diamond on the far long rail) with your standard strong break speed shot. IF the ball rolls the same distance on all four shots - the cushions are consistent. Any ball roll that comes up very...

Stances for 6 feet and taller people.

I'm six feet six inches. When I coach taller players, I spread their feet out into a wider stance. This lowers the waist and makes it easier to place the head onto the stick. It also prevents back problems. Also shift the body weight onto the back foot (about 55-60%). This also forces a...
