As far as I know Mcdermott does not have a radial they use a 3/8 10 standard pin in almost all the cues they make. I do have one that has a quick release but that's not standard. If he tried to put a radial shaft on a 3/8 10 pin it would cross thread and possibly split the shaft. If its not...

Sounds like you mean a radial pin they look a little wavy. Its a pretty common joint so you should not have a hard time finding a shaft for it. The best thing would be to post a picture to be sure though.
