How low can deflection go and still be a useable shaft?

A shaft made from aerogel would probably be very close to the mythical "zero deflection" shaft that's sometimes advertised, but I don't think any of us would use one. Looking at Dr. Dave Alciatore's video on squirt, the lowest "deflection" shaft he tested is a Revo, and it seems to cause about 3...

    Deflection Tests

I've been away from pool for a bit, so haven't been on this forum...just wanted to say you and Bob Jewett inspired me long ago to have my own shaft made similarly. Except it's a very fat 11mm.

Playing differences in length of pro taper

For draw: Smooth, level stroke. Follow through until the tip touches the cloth. It helps to visualize a point past the cue ball that you are aiming for, as if the cue ball isn't there. Make sure you are hitting the cue ball near the miscue limit. Lot's of people aim there, but hit higher. Don't...

    Your favorite playing cue's stats?

My own search for the magical, perfect cue--which I'm pretty sure doesn't exist--has caused me to be very curious about your current favorite playing cue, with a focus on playabilty more than looks. So... Weight: ? Length: ? Shaft: ? (Ld or not? this doesn't just mean commercial ones. If it...

Can you be too smart to play good pool?

Good point. Efren Reyes and Tom "Dr. Cue" Rossman have each said they have learned a lot from watching beginners.

Can you be too smart to play good pool?

Sadly, the whole "right brain--left brain" thing is a myth: http://thescienceexplorer.com/brain-and-body/left-brained-vs-right-brained-myth-debunked

Can you be too smart to play good pool?

Sure. Just look at how badly Bob Jewett played against this unknown banger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1AQ21-oBmU

Has anyone tried the new Schon Hybrid Shafts?

This, plus a short ferrule is what I have been using lately. The shafts I've had this done to are made from stiffer, lighter maple. One weighs 2.75 oz even with a brass insert. I like it better than all the commercial LD shafts. Still waiting for REVO 12mm-12.5mm shafts to happen....

    Chezka Centeno

From what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if she dominates all the men, too. She brings a relaxed, speedy style to pool that hasn't been seen since Earl's early days. I love watching her play--she makes pool exciting again. There already is a big difference in her play from 2015 to 2016. What...

Have you finally found the perfect cue?

Doesn't exist. You'll think you have one, and then you'll try another, and it'll be better--for a while. Buying cues/shafts/tips/chalk is an addiction. What makes it even worse is that it seems like the only cure is buying another one.

    I love Tiger's ad

Wait. This means I can't buy the REVO I've been saving up for. If the Tiger shafts have no deflection, and the REVO has even less--then the REVO has NEGATIVE deflection! Which would still be deflection, but in a different direction. Sorta like static cling, I guess.... I knew those all those...
