    Pool league rant kinda.....

I understand your frustration. For what it's worth, there are better systems out there. I currently play NAPA and really like it. I have played APA but greatly prefer NAPA.

    Pool league rant kinda.....

This sounds like a problem with this specific league; how is it that you can win all your games (or all but one) but still lose the match? That doesn't make sense to me at all... I mean, I can come up with a system where that happens, but then I'd laugh at the ridiculousness of it and come up...

    Five Luxurious Billiard Rooms

I was expecting you to notice the two-tone cloth from keeping the table in the sun and partly covered. Hey, that was a wholesome, family tour! I'm thinking it more likely that they were phonograph cylinders:

    Five Luxurious Billiard Rooms

The billiard room at the George Eastman (founder of Kodak) house in Rochester is very nice. I can't find a good, full-room picture, but here's the table (not the original to the house.) The couch behind the table is on a little raised platform for better viewing.

Hitting the table with your palm while the balls are moving

What is this "vibration" of which you speak? I didn't think slate transmitted vibration that well. Sue me.

Hitting the table with your palm while the balls are moving

How exactly is slapping the table supposed to affect the balls? Is it the little breeze caused by moving your hand? I think we need Dr. Dave's high speed camera.

Has this happened to anyone here ?

When you make a big change to how you play -- like slowing "way" down -- you're going to get worse before you get better.

    Under Armour making pool pants?

So Under Armour pants, Moose billiard shoes, and a Universe shirt. I think I'm ready to play some pool... now all I need is some skill and ability.

Has this happened to anyone here ?

QFT = "quoted for truth". It's just a different way to say "ditto" or "i agree" but more strongly.

Has this happened to anyone here ?

QFT. Go out and practice (not play) with your current cue and work on focusing on the shot and your fundamentals. I like to start with simple stop shots: after getting warmed up a bit, I practice hitting as softly as I can but still getting the OB in the pocket and the cue ball to stop...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

NAPA lagger's choice last night. I lost a 5-5 8-ball race 5-3. It was a good match except for the 8-ball I pocketed early in the second game. :embarrassed2: Last night was also a nice realization that I've been improving: the guy I played used to have to spot me a couple games and now we...

    What Is Wrong With People?

    Billiard shoes • finally

It's not pool-related if it doesn't have a skeleton and some reference to "dead stroke".

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Had a Bye last week. This week, I'll be out of town for work... again. For some reason, when I have to leave town for work it always interferes with league.

    Pool appealing to mainstream

Darts is popular in the UK as well; so is blood pudding. People in the South eat livermush, yet you won't find it in New York state. I know people in Eastern Oregon that used to go "rat stompin'". And don't get me started on the crazy crap that is popular in the Middle East. If snooker were...

    Pool appealing to mainstream

Now now... it's not that repetitive... sometimes you pot a pink ball instead of a black! ;) Personally I like snooker. I can watch snooker more easily than nine-ball and it's not because 9-ball is a "break contest" (the most repeated phrase on AZB for the past month, second only to "nut...

    Pool appealing to mainstream

No it doesn't. "Boring" is a subjective thing. If a person finds an activity boring, then it is -- to that person. It means nothing to them if someone else thinks the activity is great fun. And the fact that someone thinks it's fun does not "refute" the first person's opinion of it.

    Pool appealing to mainstream

But the UK is not the US. Just because something is popular over there, doesn't mean it should/will be popular here. Also, the interest in snooker has been declining for some time now.

    Pool appealing to mainstream

With the exception of the shot clock, none of your suggestions would be noticeable/meaningful to a casual viewer. In 2014, pool is not a spectator sport. You want pool to grow? Get people playing it.
