STRAIGHT POOL Strategy and “Run Your Age” Challenge

I'm 71 and I'd be dead a hundred years before I could run 71??? But 29 and dropping is a possibility.

Are There Benefits To This Drill?

Interesting, PJ sees it as a aiming (gate) drill. DCP sees it more as a stroke drill. I see it more as an eye pattern/psychology drill. Especially bbb's staggered version. I know when I can make a shot clearing any almost blocking balls there's a part of my subconscious saying don't hit the...

Do you know anyone that was buried with their cue?

I hate to disrupt your thoughts on a final happy resting. But what makes you think that when the lid gets closed your Balabushka, Rolex, diamond pinky ring, etc. will still be there? I worked with a mortician once. Just sayin'

Are There Benefits To This Drill?

bbb, I like that too. These interference drills really force you to focus on the OB and work your eye pattern discipline.

Are There Benefits To This Drill?

Not an instructor and not particularly knowledgeable either. But I do think it's a useful drill and a good post too. I would chart how often you hit either the one or three ball to see if there's a pattern. That will show a weakness in visual perception. Train the weak side. Knowing a weakness...

    The BAT System

Damn Abby, that's the best advice I've ever read here. Bob Jewett always writes about math and that gives me a headache.

    The BAT System

Dear Abby, I now have two pool tables in the basement and my wife still won't leave. I've bought about twenty cues and that didn't work either. What do I do now?

    Floor covering for basement

New home 13 years ago. Main section has concrete, carpet underlayment and commercial grade nylon carpet. A GC sit there. Branching off to the side was a linoleum floored section first used as a photography studio. I moved all my equipment into storage during the covid lockdown and put in a...

    PBIA & Auto-Aim

I have a wobbly stroke, poor eye pattern, don't own a crowbar and off-set aiming confused me. Is there any hope for AUTO AIM?

Do you guys love pool so much you over look a lot of stuff? Possibly my final post

Get a job. Buy a house. Put a table in the basement. All your freakin' problems are solved. It worked for me.

    Conduct at a Tournament

Fastone, I know he's my favorite player. But the very thought is so larger than life, somehow it fits into the reality of pool with Earl.

    Conduct at a Tournament

I don't feel like I've got my money's worth if I don't watch Earl spear a unruly spectator with his cue.

    Lagging with cue ball?

Twins no. Triplets yes. Justin, Jaime and Justnum. Pick your persona.

    Lagging with cue ball?

Oh Straightline, where could I get those lag balls, Pool Dawg doesn't carry them. I've been using those two Harley Davidson balls, the white cue and black eight. Both with the logo. And man you really look badass when you carry one in each front pocket. The ladies really stare.

    New 2020 Brunswick Centennial

Yeah it looks pretty retro. But I think I'll keep my GC IV and buy another motorcycle.

    COVID-19 & Pool Playing / Pool Cues

In the long term guns should be looked at as ballistic wampum. Same thing with a large supply of ammo. Since the virus, then the protester's riots gun sale have gone through the roof. Even on the left coast. It's a valuable commodity. Pool cues not so much. But with all your high end cues you...

Open bridge joint pain in base of thumb

I have arthritis in the wrists and both thumbs, yes at the base. I haven't made a closed bridge in eight or nine years. If it's a muscle issue you can massage the thumb muscle in the palm. Use a circular motion, deep, it should hurt a bit.

I will play ANYONE in the world!

So Ray, that Randy tuned Valley got you to be Top Dog in just a couple of months? You told me your vision is going. My practice is going a bit slower. Wuff-wuff. BTW it's his youngest son that does the cushion work. Least that's what he told me.

    Identifying Wood

A rare or fancy wood you might add is Bubinga. Sometimes known as African Rosewood. It sometimes shows up in cues. I've used it in the past for lens boards, quite beautiful with many different tones.
