    Humidity

Treacle is from Middle English (Old French) - Molasses from modern French. Who'd have thunk it? Usually the US use Italian words for many culinary terms that were stolen from the French in British English. What a random rabbit hole I just wandered down. Either way, humidity is one of the...

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

Yes, but the seeding and matchups in the early stages often see the 'elite' cake walk through. Where as a lot of the top international, and TW contingent get pushed against each other early doors. Though, I guess there is always room for upsets e.g. Zheng Yubo v Yang Fan

Actually, This makes a good point, and you are probably right! Yes, it threw me a couple of times.

Where are you situated? Humidity here is disgusting. Very frustrating.

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

A break-and-run earns 10 points, a table-run 7 points, a victory 4 points, and an opponent’s foul 1 point. Of course, if there is multiple fouls, this adds up. Three foul is in play, so 5,6,7 can be attributed to games that are won with fouls. Three foul victory would total at 7. This was...

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

I think there is definitely some creative selection. A lot of people here were begging for the KO brothers to go deep. The prevailing attitude here is American table is child's play.

They existed before, just not marketed or played in the same way it is now.

A lot of them have in Asia. Snooker, American pool, carom, 235. A lot of the Chinese players don't travel often for numerous reasons; visas, finance, and the fact they make more money on the domestic circuit.

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

This is not recent. This was commenting on his past. This was discussed before (in this thread I think, maybe another), as when someone brought it up, I was surprised none of my friends in SH had mentioned it. So I asked some people, who clarified that the reference was to his past. He entered...

    Humidity

Interesting this topic has come up as it is currently 'rainy season' (well just entering it) here, and I was also thinking about this a lot. The last few days have been horrible. Rails completely unreliable, with balls bouncing off on contact, or the spin being sucked out of balls on contact...

黑八 // 黑球 - Black eight // black ball - C8 and C9 can work, but they generally just say 'Duya nine ball' (九球 - 9 ball) Green baize (napped cloth) Doesn't matter :)

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

Think he was out relatively early doors in this particular event. He is a total legend. I think Chu Bing Jie and Xue Zhengqi are currently the two top dogs running 9balls on green tables (one factually, and the other popular opinion)

People who are interested will read it. Same way I read and appreciated the person who posted their experience. I shared some comments back. That's how forums work. Haven't had a "your post is too long" comment in a while :ROFLMAO: I was doing so well... You don't have to take out your reading...

Alex P vs Mick Hill in the Finals of a Chinese table 9 ball tournament

Yes, correct. Exceptions being Shanghai, Nanjing, Xiamen, Guangzhou, where there are specific clubs/franchises catering to the American game (these generally have snooker and Chinese 8 sections still). There's like 1000 Chinese table halls for every 1 American tabled hall I'd guess. Absolutely...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

I know a crafty old TW coach (690+) that I have seen regularly take money from 800s when they come to town for competitions (China Open, yuan8 Open, Chinese table stuff). In fact, I have not seen him lose a match for money in the two years I've been playing. One of the best safety players I have...

    What Does Zero Flexpoint Mean?

Totally agree. It's a stiff shaft accompanied by some poetic prose to convince you that's what you need or are looking for.

    A Portable 14.1 Scorekeeper

Lot of phone apps that do the trick. I usually put the APP on the iPad for the ball count, then use the conventional rack counter to count games won.
