I disagree with this. Memorizing shots is beneficial because they form a background grid for self-reference, "especially" when you are tired and have been playing for more than a few hours. Markers are excellent for beginners to pros.

Good input. No I never scuff my tip, maybe once in a blue moon, and I only roll a gator grip on it gently. I also chalk properly by swiping, no drilling. I have played 3C with this shaft many times and the balls are a bit heavier. But they rip when playing pool.

A ball becomes a training aid once you touch it to orient its position. Otherwise it is just a ball. You can play a tournament with an iCue or Rempe ball as long as you don’t touch it in between shots. In that case it won’t do anything useful for the player.

They have been on the shaft for about 200 hours of play, so they've been worn in. The rip is happening after many hours of play. This is what happened the last time too.
