Tip keeps getting shredded

I am knowledgeable about some stuff, but I don't know anything about tips. Many of you do.

This is the second time that I have damaged the tip on my 11.8 Revo. The first time it came with whatever tip was installed. The second time I believe a Kamui HII tip was used. The installer is a professional and the damage does not have anything to do with his work. The edge of the tip keeps ripping, maybe 1-2mm from the edge.

I am thinking either that I am abusing the tip by both hitting balls too hard (I play a lot of straight pool and 235, and I hit some pretty aggressive spin shots sometimes), and I also keep my shaft in my car all of the time in Boston weather, which may be drying out the tip? I also prefer hard tips because they last longer but maybe are more brittle?

What are your thoughts?

Too much testing of your miscue limit with the digiball, resulting in more off center tip contact?

How do you maintain your layered tips? I've been told by multiple cue builders that layered tips should only be maintained by lightly scuffing the circumference front to back with a rotation each scuff with something like one of these:

No aggressive tip shaping tools and definitely no spiked pokers should be used.

I've used picks on layered tips forever with no issues. I would just avoid the really coarse scuffers, but i think many are too aggressive to begin with and just take off too much material.

Laminated tips are to be shaped by stroking (with sand paper) from the center of the tip to the edge ONLY.

If you stroke from edge to center it is EASY to rupture the glue bond between layers.
If you stroke meridionally across the edge, you can rupture the glue bonds, too.

i scuff and pick the tip surface i use every day before playing
an sib soft, dont have to change a tip but once or twice a year
with the last forever tip tool and a tip pick, if you do it light theres no issue
shape always maintained and surface always scuffy

To be honest I don't maintain the tip at all. I think I used my Kamui Gator Grip tip shaper twice, and I only press on it, no scraping. Because it is a hard tip it keeps it's shape. I don't think this contributed to whatever I am doing to damage it.

How long were the tips on the shaft before this happened? Did the ripping seem to happen over time or all at once? Possibly something in your case that you are unaware of with the tip is rubbing against it?

Wow, that's often. I scuff mine when chalk quits sticking all the way across the tip, I would guess once every 2 weeks or about 20 hours of play. I use a medium tip and break with it too, the older it gets the harder it gets. My tip has been on 2 or 3 years now, still seems to work fine. I use a Gator Grip to scuff it, if it needs shaping I have the tool that uses a strip of sandpaper and I also have one of those cube things for making a dime or nickel radius.

I put a bulletproof synthetic soft tip on one of my sticks and am having great results. It grabs the ball like a leather tip would, and doesn't mushroom out or deform with normal play.

Maybe something to do with being frozen in the car, then brought into the hall?
It isn't temperature. I played with it all day, for 6 hours straight, before it ripped. But maybe the low temperatures dried out the leather too much over time.

They have been on the shaft for about 200 hours of play, so they've been worn in. The rip is happening after many hours of play. This is what happened the last time too.
