    Practicing via Feel Only

Thanks. I think I got what I was looking for, which is verification that I am in the right track by focusing on my natural game, and this seems to be beneficial because I never notice problems switching from table to table, 9’ or 10’, heated or unheated, etc. I’ll add tools but will keep things...

about mid table I hit like how I said. If it is lower to the end rail near the third ball, I have to adjust to avoid the kiss after the second ball banks once on the opposite long rail. If it is further nearer the far short rail, I also adjust for the immediate kiss. A lot of the time the second...

    Pool Inventions of the Future

I have an idea that rather then test shaft deflection by hitting balls on a table, the end mass of a cue is measured directly and compared to a standard. This maybe can be done with a vibrational frequency sweep, and can be a small device that anyone can buy, compared to an expensive table and...

    Pool Inventions of the Future

Don Owen was working on this idea 10 years ago with a material that simulated gecko feet. He said it didn’t work well.

    Practicing via Feel Only

Yes this is very common in clubs in Europe. And you start with the free game and progress to ball line and then 1c and finally 3C, then go to the big table. Americans don’t like being bad at something for a long time before they get good at it, lack of patience. So they just jump right to the...

Yes, just feel. For three rail shots I feel how much object ball I need to take. When OB and cb are parallel to rail about 1 1/2 diamond from long rail, To get to the corner I hit about 1/3 object ball with 4:30 English 30 percent from center. To get one diamond from the corner on the short rail...

What drills are best to get that smooth stroke like Buddy Hall , or Chris Melling?

If you never practice without pressure you won’t get to a high level. You have to be able to spend time thinking about details clearly. You don’t know what you are talking about.

These are exactly the types of things I am looking for. If you PM me the other diagrams you are talking about then I will absorb them as you mentioned. Divide by the difference is brilliant and now I know forever.

Understood, but I don’t really align with the subject of these statements. I’m not impatient and overly ambitious. Just asking questions.

There is a huge amount of information available regarding systems based off of diamonds, which are absolute positional markers on the table. Sang Lee, and a few other high level players have mentioned that systems are kind of a crutch. Have any of you tried to approach practicing the game more...

What drills are best to get that smooth stroke like Buddy Hall , or Chris Melling?

I've spent a lot of time working on my stroke and figuring out the answer to this question. To achieve a smooth stroke you want to start by Use a lot more of the room you have available to pull back your cue, regardless of what your bridge length is. That means bringing the ferrule all the way...
