I didn't take a good look at it but I think he borrowed it because I saw him unscrew and give it to someone. I think it was one of McDermott's carom shafts, but not an aggressive taper. If that's the case his performance was even that much more special.

Our spectator chair's seat are about 30" which is approximately the height of the slate from the floor. Perfect for viewing and easy to get in and out of the chair. If they are too low, it becomes an effort to get in and out to the tune that I would prefer to stand the whole time.

Just break with it like 10-15 times, it should get better. These tips are not designed to be scuffed harshly or when installed using a lathe they suggest cut the tip at slow speed and dampen the tip as you go. be gentile and you will love it.
