    Gus Szamboti 70's

You're welcome. I've had a few Gus cues in my hands, but not one like that either. A lot of Gus' we haven't even seen. They're in big collections in Japan.

    Gus Szamboti 70's

Actually, some of Gus' fancy cues were done with dots on top of the points. If it's Gus, it's not to correct something. There is a really fancy four-pointer with dots on top of the points on the first page of the Historical Cue thread...

Cues With Rectangles/Windows In Butt Sleeve

There are some synthetics that do resemble even the grain of ivory. I have a couple shafts with melamine ferrules that look exactly like ivory, including grain. All the ivorine I've ever seen does not have a grain, but that being produced today just might; I haven't checked.

Cues With Rectangles/Windows In Butt Sleeve

Color is about the same, but no grain with Ivorine.

Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

This big an interest in cues, and you just now found this forum?

Are the new Tariffs on Goods from China going to affect prices on Pool cues?

Basically, if you can't afford to buy with a bit of uncertainty, then you shouldn't be buying in the first place. Tariffs should be your last worry, when you're buying cheap cues in the first place.

Help with thoughts about Unknown pool cue?

Yes, although different size boxes, believe that's a copy of the Jim Rempe series, mid-80s.

Help with thoughts about Unknown pool cue?

I would agree with you. I've seen some very playable cues from China. A lot of them do tend to copy popular designs from outfits such as McDermott and others.

Help with thoughts about Unknown pool cue?

Chinese McDermott knockoff. The woods are full of these.

Cues With Rectangles/Windows In Butt Sleeve

Only the inlays for the good stuff. Ivorine 3 for the rest of the buttsleeve and buttplate. No cracking that way.

What is the One Major Player Flaw You See Most Often At The Pool Hall

Too much paid for, failed instruction, and not enough practice and competition.

    Soft Tip

Elkmaster is correct. Bear in mind, any tip firms up with use.

    Gus Szamboti Authentication

Not a Gus pin, not Gus style, and not a Gus dimension between butt sleeve and butt plate.

    Gus Szamboti Authentication

If Barry isn't doing it anymore, put a lot of very good pictures of it here. That would be a start, though not conclusive.

    Any McDermott Cue Players?

I'd have to say the D series was the best. Here's mine.

    3/8 by 10 pin

3/8 by 10 pins have some variation. Early Joss 3/8 by 10 pins, slightly larger threads than later ones. 80s McDermotts, also a little on the big side. Take it to a cue repairman and have him run a tap into the shaft to get a good fit. By the way, the same variations happen with the 14 thread...

Historic Cues. Do you have any?

Thanks to @Chopdoc for reviving this thread. I can't believe it's been nine years since I started it. A lot of great cues have been shown here, with pieces of historical significance. I started it off with a Joss cue, only historic because it had six veneered points. Between myself and a few...

Interesting Insights from Rory Mcllroy's Psych Doc

You do realize the thread is about psych coaching? Not swing coaching. Most champions at some point got some swing coaching, that's pretty normal. Psych coaching, on the other hand, I can't think of many who really relied on it. You have your same head after the psych coaching that you did...

Interesting Insights from Rory Mcllroy's Psych Doc

To have a coach in anything is a crutch. Since it's golf, who was Sam Snead's coach? Nobody. Who was Byron Nelson's coach? Nobody. Who was Ben Hogan's coach? Nobody. Who was Gene Sarazen's coach? Nobody. Don't be a girly man coach lover.
