    I have it, Do you?

Much less expensive, and I don't care what kind of cue you got.

    Help me decide the wrap!

Well, Irish Linen, so to speak, is nothing but fishing line, if we go back to Cortland, which we tend to do. Today's linen only goes on cues that I know of, as the fishing industry has long since gone to Dacron. In fact, if we go back to the Palmer 2 catalog, those cues that were advertised as...

    Help Identify This Cue!

    Not a chance in hell.

    Help me decide the wrap!

It all comes from China now. I've heard rumors of another linen maybe being produced in another country, but so far, no evidence.

    Help me decide the wrap!

I don't think there's any Blue Mountain around anymore, unless some have hoarded some. It burned down many years ago.

    Help me decide the wrap!

Solid black. It's not traditional enough of a cue to do a white with green spec. Solid black.

    I have it, Do you?

Yep. I'm good at collecting things, but not good at selling them.

    Softbreak ?

I don't think the cue ball should have to touch a rail. In fact, the ideal break is to squat the cue ball right in the middle of the table after the break, so you likely have a shot if you pocket a ball. That's the most solid break.

Why are there so few black pro players..?

Willie Munson played tournament pool. The OP's question was why are there so few black pro players. Willie was a pro.

Why are there so few black pro players..?

Can you name any black synchronized swimmers? If so, why is the reason?

Why are there so few black pro players..?

So with a post count of about 200, it's clear that you probably haven't been around the game a very long time, and you don't know the history of where the real money was. Ever heard of Cisero Murphy?

Why are there so few black pro players..?

Professional level doesn't pay very well. I doubt the names Bo Diddley, Strawberry, and Julius Cottman would ring a bell to you. They did their playing behind the scenes, where the money was largely better.

    Pre-Second Catalog Custom Palmers M's when they were little m's, or M & M's...

Very cool. I think all Palmer cue owners have been fascinated by the Model M. Somewhere I read how those curved veneers were made, but I forget how.

    Brunswick Pool Cue

Bumpers were not that common on cues until mid 60s and early 70s. Of course it could have been an add on later. This would be a tough one to date.

    any really tall pro players?

In golf, height has nothing to do with club length. I'm five foot ten. My college roommate was six foot eight. We both used the same length clubs, because his hands reached down his body to exactly where mine did. No difference in club requirement, as far as length. I would tend to argue...

    any really tall pro players?

It's my impression that tall guys use long cues because they don't have much of a natural stroke with a short cue. By contract, a short guy using a long cue doesn't make sense to me. He'd have to spread his arms out too far just to get his hands on the wrap area. Big guys use big things. Uh...

    French Lick Resort

Believe Vaner was from Owensboro, Kentucky. Not sure if that was his birthplace, but I think it's where he called home much of his youth. Regarding French Lick and Larry Bird, a lot of history there. There was an 18 hole golf course attached to the main hotel, later got trimmed to nine holes...

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

But wouldn't you have to significantly widen the interior of the existing joint, to get the pretty standard wood to wood shaft pin in? Not so concerning for steel, but if ivory joint, any downward pressure, or bending of the cue could crack the joint? I'm just picturing the typical wood to...

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

But wouldn't you have to remove the existing joint, resulting in a shorter cue?

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

I wouldn't think he could convert his cue to a wood to wood joint but agree on the fiber ferrule. I mentioned Juma, both are on the soft side for ferrules.
