Why are there so few black pro players..?

Actually there really are not that many true American pro players of any race. All the Asian countries contribute a big % of true pro players and European pro players come from countries with low black population percentages —-

If pool in America was popular enough to create a much higher number of true world competitive pros then perhaps the racial mix would change a bit.

There used to be quite a few really good black players. They didn't do tournaments, just action. Bugs, Gabby, Strawberry, Piggy Banks,Eddie Casey/Brown, Melvin Sharp to name a few. Cliff Joyner played both action and tournament pool. These days its rare to see top black guys. Evan Lunda and Josh Roberts come to mind.

Professional level doesn't pay very well. I doubt the names Bo Diddley, Strawberry, and Julius Cottman would ring a bell to you. They did their playing behind the scenes, where the money was largely better.
Strawberry does but again, its only three guys.Throw Mark Tadd in there, then its four. And your point that it doesn't pay very well would attract white players but not black ones..?Makes little sense to me...

So with a post count of about 200, it's clear that you probably haven't been around the game a very long time, and you don't know the history of where the real money was. Ever heard of Cisero Murphy?

Salaries in basketball /football / baseball seem to be a better career to pursue
If you want a career of as an athlete
JMHO
If youre 5'7 you'll have a hard time succeeding in those three ;-) but I see your point.Actually, I heard that there are not many black heaviweight contenders anymore becuse basketball is a better option.

Ok, first, why my post count has anything to do with my time being around the game would have to be explained by you and second, Murphy passed away 29 years ago, how many black pros can you name that play professionally today?

Can you name any black synchronized swimmers? If so, why is the reason?
