3 things you would change about pool

Sounds like that may have had 4.5 inch pockets if it was a standard Diamond.

3 things you would change about pool

Because they don't play much if any straight pool. Rotation games such as 9 and 10 ball, you only need approximate position most of the time. In straight pool you need more exact position on the key ball and break ball, which often needs more cheating the pocket.

The new hotness: Object Ball Spotter

A lot of normal table roll. I'll pass.

    Irving Crane, 10-20

I thought I'd seen all the old time footage, but this one caught me by surprise. Irving Crane, vs Mr. Covington, 10-20. Sort of like straight pool, but not exactly.

3 things you would change about pool

I wouldn't make 4 inch pockets a standard for anything. One important part of pool is cheating the pocket for position play. You can't do that with 4 inch pockets. If you're not good at cheating the pocket, you're not good at the whole game. 4.5 at least.

Let’s see those vintage Adam cues

My guess would be that it has a sanding sealer over it and buffed.

Let’s see those vintage Adam cues

Is that a finish over the wrap? I don't recall Adam usually doing that. Very nice cue.

Is it a Murray Searing or a Dennis Tucker?

It's a Murray Tucker. Another build or aftermarket shaft doesn't change it.

    George Breedlove

If I remember the tournament, I think you're talking about 1994, McDermott tournament at First Break Cafe in Sterling, Virginia. All the DC area greats were there. George played excellent.

    Twine Specific for Cue Wrap

There are two serious cue makers that did use nylon. George Balabushka and Gus Szamboti made cues for Ray Martin using nylon for the wrap. Not just one strand of nylon, but three strands, braided. That's how Ray preferred the wrap.

You've probably never seen a real first-generation Predator shaft. It was 7/8th of an inch, not much shorter than a standard 1-inch ferrule. Here are the first three generations, top, the first, called Isoplast, second, called Titan, and third, not sure of the material name. You had to have a...

    ...............................................................

It didn't have a Predator shaft when I saw the cue, and that would have been about 2000, give or take one or two. Bear in mind, at that period of time, guys hadn't largely gone to Predator shafts just yet, but that was to change shortly. A bit of memory, the very first well-known tournament...

    ...............................................................

Yeah, it was a beautiful cue, I'd like to have snapped a few pics of it. Reminded me of an earlier Joss/Gina box cue. But the Schon buttplate and logo were there. I think custom, I've never seen it in a group picture.

I played Ramil in the early 2000s in the Planet Pool circuit, Mid-Atlantic region. That was a Schon box cue, probably custom.

    Where are our JOSS experts?

Yes, the Varner Joss series had the center dashed joint rings, as did the A series. The more interesting part is that you have the plain black collar with date earlier than 1984, which I had not seen before. Maybe the Diamond Series and those earlier ones were being built concurrently to go...

    Where are our JOSS experts?

Interesting. Yours shows 1982 and 1983 with plain black collars when the Diamond Series was being build with dashes. Yours also shows what looks like a Diamond Series on the far right. do you remember the year it was made?

    Where are our JOSS experts?

Could be right. I have a 1984 Joss with white lettering in the joint collars. Before 1984, I believe was the Diamond Series with the dashes in the middle of the joint collar, but I'm not 100% on that. It would be neat if someone has a lettered collar that says 1983. And none of the pictures...

    Where are our JOSS experts?

1984 or later when they changed the joint collars, I think Chopdoc has the right date.

Historic Cues. Do you have any?

I am sure you can identify these cues (original Balabushka)

I see what you mean about the bumper on the fancy one. Could use a replacement. If you can't find a KU bumper, I believe most cuemakers and cue repairmen have access to new brown bumpers, which are not a bad replacement. On the fancy one, I do see the groove on the outer edge of the interior...
