    Derby City Ten Ball Invitational

This is a fwiw item. I believe that the pool world would be well served by adopting a standardized naming convention for pool tournaments wherein a game of rotation is played. The naming convention I have in mind is... after the sponsor's name and/or location of the tournament, there would be...

    money league payouts.

I was the president of an in-house 8-ball league for about 10 years that started as a corporate league (picture large airplane manufacturer here in the Seattle area)... no outsiders were allowed to play other than spouses and siblings under the age of 21. We had two sessions per year...

    Smoking during a match???!!!!

HEAR, HEAR brother. I'm complimented on the aroma of my cigar smoke quite often as well but there will always be someone who prefers not to smell my cigar smoke... and I kindly oblige them, if they are civil, by moving downwind of them. Back several years ago before the smoking ban was in...

    It was simply amazing!

Roger - That's really cool. Shane's the man right now. Getting back to the average joe pool player and his not knowing the best pool players in America right now... it's not what interests them. For most, if they can achieve a 4 ball run and win their game during their weekly 8-ball...

    Head and Foot spots

+2 I use a hole reinforcer on my home table. It works great. If an edge lifts, I simply replace it with another. They're dirt cheap.

    vcash.

Definitely not sure about the annual allotment, but what I do remember is we were supposed to get a vcash refresh periodically. I currently have 25... and have had for a LONG time... so I'm left to conclude that vcash is essentially persona non grata here at AZB. No biggee.

If Johnny Archer VS SVB, 9 ball race to 50 games comes about...

Hypothetically speaking, with your stipulated conditions, my money would be on Archer. Not the house however. Realistically speaking, this match would never take place as specified. So... mox nix... it doesn't really matter what you or I think might happen. No disrespect intended but it...

    Poll: smoking and pool

Well... I'm out here in my garage... it's raining to beat the band... I've got the garage door open... I've already hit a few racks of balls... and I just lit up an H. Upmann No. 2. YUM-OH. Life is good. I'm on a 3-month leave of absence from work... my choice... call it a trial pre-retirement...

Final Score TAR PPV - 35-31 SVB - SVB runs 7 racks in a row!

What are the specs on the table? I'm coming into this quite late and did not watch the stream last night. I thought that the match was going to be played at TAR's new room in Vegas... and if so, don't they have a 9' Diamond Pro Am in that room? Is is not a standard 9' Diamond Pro Am with 4.5"...

    Where to play? Seattle, Wa..

PP - If you don't mind driving north of Seattle on I-5 for about 30 miles, I live in Marysville (very close to the freeway) and have a 9' Diamond in my garage. You could come up and hit some balls with me some evening. Let me know.

Here's a pic from my Diamond Pro Am... the measurement is made at the points of the cushions.

    Home Table Pocket Size

The Diamond Pro Am pro cut (4.5" corner) pockets are perfect imo. Playing 9-ball or 10-ball on a 9-footer is challenging... yet realistic.

    Show me your player!!

Here's mine. From L to R, Thuya burl/Afzelia burl/Thuya burl with three Ivory long points and three Pink Ivory short points... all white is ivory including the joint collar. And here's a close up of the Double Crown rings that I designed. Each small diamond was inlaid and glued by hand.

    Seattle Room circa 1920

Yes... it's the old Aurora Billiards. It was right next to the Davenport Hotel. And it was located on a street corner... and it was fairly easy to get to because it was on a street car route. I should add that there was gambling and card playing there as well

And it's been stated here elsewhere that the only REAL profitable tournaments are the amateur ones anyway. Lets the pros suck their thumb. :groucho:

Something that no one seems to want to talk about...

I was one of those that tried repeatedly. What I got done during the shutdown... I flushed the cooling system on my '96 F-150 (which was in need), went to the liquor store to buy a 1/2 gallon of bourbon and also stopped at our favorite restaurant to pick up a 1/2 case of a fantastic...
